Iran, in a confidential letter posted Friday on an internal Web site of the U.N. nuclear monitor, said its fear of attack from the U.S. and Israel prompted its decision to withhold information from the agency.

Let me start by saying I have zero trust for the Iranians and actually hope we take their program out by any means necessary. But suppose you are the Iranians and you believe the US fully plans to attack you, even though you are merely trying to develop peaceful nuclear technology. Even though you are totally innocent, you might not want to give the US information they could use to target your totally peaceful development facilities.
