Mayors Meet In Philly To Discuss Violent Crime

(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA -- Mayors from cities throughout the tri-state area met at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia Friday to discuss ways of stemming violence.

Philadelphia Mayor John Street was joined by mayors of cities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware as they searched for answers in a creating a safer environment for their residents.

"We recognize that we can be a better and a strong city and a strong region if we come together and we talk about these things," Mayor Street said.

Philadelphia is rapidly approaching 100 homicides for 2007, up 18 percent from last year. Officials agreed the impact of violent crime sends a shockwave through surrounding communities.

"Whether it's a homicide that takes place in Scranton and the victim may be from Philly or the crime takes place in Philly and someone goes to Allentown, we need to be able to communicate with each other," said Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty.

Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson recently announced 300 top ranked officers, including himself, will join patrols in Philadelphia's most violent neighborhoods.

"I'll be out there more than just four hours a day. I think it's very important," he said.

The group of mayors shared their thoughts on crime prevention and legislation, but it was clear there is no easy solution to bring an end to violent crime.

"No one has found that silver bullet yet, no one," Johnson said.

But Mayor Street said the meeting was a step in the right direction.

"We will be better prepared, better off to deal with the problems that we find in our individual jurisdictions, but we'll also be better prepared to work together to make sure that our common efforts are as effective as they can be," he said.

Mayor Street is also planning to push a public effort in attempts to convince Congress to pass stronger gun laws.

Perhaps he'd like to rephrase that...

So the "availability of guns" causes people to join gangs, do drugs and drop out of high school?

Interesting place to have that meeting. I think they are up to 97 murders since January 1st of this year.

The problem is that Philly is full of people who don't give a rat's behind about getting themselves educated or otherwise making something of themselves, who subscribe to a sh*t-*ss culture of victimhood where either "the man" is keeping them down or the people out here in the suburbs (most of whom have NEVER LIVED IN PHILADELPHIA COUNTY) are either letting them down or otherwise short-changing them (nevermind that we pay more in taxes than we get because of those people). It won't get better because the politicians dare not tell the people the truth:

DITCH THE G*DD*MN RAP MUSIC AND THE SH*T-*SS VICTIMHOOD CULTURE IT BRAINWASHES YOU WITH. You are either interested in self-care (i.e. education, skills, etc.) or you are a chump. If you're a chump and don't want to make something of yourself, don't expect your lives to get any better because they won't. No one gives enough of a good G*dd*mn to hold you down -- you are holding yourselves down.

Most people in the suburbs were BORN there. Don't expect them to care for you. They didn't put you where you are and shouldn't be expected to get you out. Start carrying your own water and you'll be shocked to learn that they actually won't stand in your way -- they're too busy LIVING THEIR OWN LIVES to give a rat's behind about whether you're interested in living yours.

The reason the suburbs hold you in contempt and don't want to lift a finger to help you is because you demand it. Unfortunately the suburban mayors don't have the guts to say what's on a lot of our minds: WHO THE **** ARE YOU TO DEMAND ANYTHING OF US? We pay for our own police, fire, education, water, trash, etc. We don't get one red cent of assistance from Philly and we have never asked for it. In times of crime, we CAN AND HAVE asked assistance of the STATE OF DELAWARE before asking for help from Philadelphia. That should d*mn well tell you something. If Philly wants help perhaps they should learn the concept of humility first.

STOPPING CRIME MEANS LOCKING CRIMINALS UP. Chester doesn't have a tenth the problems of Philadelphia. I wonder why...

THE FIRST RULE OF CREATING A SAFE SOCIETY IS RESPECT. Too many people in Philly don't respect themselves much less each other, and the root of respect is MORALITY. The root of morality is JUDGEMENTS -- some things are GOOD and some things are BAD. Philadelphia has been on a crusade against all things moral, all judgments, for a long while now. You've made your beds. Either buy a different one, or lie in the one you've made.

If I sound like I "hate" the city a few hills away, it's because I've had it. I've had it with demands of parasites who give nothing in return. I've had it with people who have so spectacularly failed in their duty as a society, yet have the gall to try to corrupt the successful, peaceful, and safe societies of the surrounding counties. If Philadelphia could be foisted on New Jersey, I would go for it. I think it has to be the potential to be a truly grand city, but unfortunately the people inside are too pig-headed to do what is necessary for that to happen.

Mayors Meet In Philly To Discuss Violent Crime

TRANSLATION:

"Mayors Meet In Philly To Promote GunControl"

That is all they ever do at these things in Philly, and elsewhere.

They cannot, and will not, admit the problem is human beings who are devoid of morality. We have millions of people raised in dysfunctional homes, with no father, who have become monsters.

Discussion on morality ultimately lead to God, and Democrats don't want to discuss Him.

So, it devolves into another gun grabbing fest, with a call for more Federal funding thrown in for good measure.

This is not the problem:

This is the problem:
