Posted yesterday regarding the dry food recall,

"Pet-food recall: Hills … is that it? Hello? FDA? Hello?
If you’re new to the site, please check out our general information page.
If you have lost a pet, we encourage you to learn about pet-loss resources.
I’m still having a hard time understanding this.

The FDA said this morning that there was a possibility the tainted ingredient could have gotten into a dry food product. But they wouldn’t/couldn’t tell us which one because the investigation was ongoing. Hills has now recalled a dry food product. Hello, FDA? Is that the only one? Or are you still looking at others you can’t tell us about? Could you at least tell us that?

Here’s what’s making my head hurt:

Can you imagine what would be going on now if the FDA had said there was a human product that could possibly sicken or kill, but that they had decided they couldn’t tell us which one? Would we accept their explanation that they thought they got all the problem food, and that we shouldn’t worry?

What am I missing here? Why can’t they come clean? Who are they working for? Silly me, I though it was us!

From the PetConnection database (5:30 p.m. PT): 2,603 deceased pets (1,449 cats and 1154 dogs). Remember: These are self-reported numbers."

Well now come on- you can't put people on the level of pets, no matter how much we love our animals.

I'm actually surprised that HUMAN food is not tainted. We OUTSOURCE HUMAN food too!!!! China is cheap but obviously not real careful in what they put in the food. Be careful what YOU as a human eat - seriously. I don't trust the FDA as far as I could through a house. Remember all the prescription drugs withdrawn because of INPROPER testing that the FDA ALLOWED for human consumption? Specifically synthetic hormones for women - helps cause heart attacks, cancer and does NOTHING for those strong bones, then the Statins ... etc..

Heck the if the price is right the FDA will approve anything. The FDA has little credibility for human or animal food but I do see your point on how outrageous this is for animals. Geesh, if they don't know then don't say anything. If there COULD be a problem, then TELL pet owners - rather safe than sorry.

I HATE these command and control bureaucratic outfits that are incompetent.

I love my animals ... sometimes more than some people I know ... I treat them with love and respect and they RESPOND - unlike many people ... Animal cruelty drives me crazy - I can't stand to see the commercial looking for money to help animals that suffered cruelty. So wusp that I am, I send em a check.

I'd love to take them all home and love them. On the latest commerical, a pet had their eye gouged out and it's freshly sewn shut and another hasn't gotten a "new eye" yet - it's horrible what humans can do to domesticated animals. Kids, the elderly and animals - my heart really goes out to them - often they are defenseless and abused.
