It has to do with finding the contaminant. I believe the additional recalls were made after the discovery of the wheat gluten contaminant.
What baffling if that apparently the trace amounts of the cancer drug/rat poison and the melamine found in the food would not kill or sicken. So they are still trying to figure out what could have sickened the animals.
I have 5 cats and a dog and thankfully hadn't bought any of the recalled food.

I fully expect the recall to expand. After two weeks we have identified three contaminants.

The "smoking gun" may still be out there.

The dry food recalls will be next.

Not sure about that, Dogs & Cats have much weaker livers than humans or even rats, so what's harmless to us & lab rats might be trouble for pets (Think Chocolate)

After researching what actually goes into dog food, I would never feed my dog that crap and stuck to table scraps, The "meat" they use in pet food isn't even good enough to be legally used to make Hot Dogs, that pretty much says it all.
