TEHRAN, Iran - About 200 students threw rocks and firecrackers at the British Embassy on Sunday, calling for the expulsion of the country's ambassador because of the standoff over Iran's capture of 15 British sailors and marines.

Several dozen policemen prevented the protesters from entering the embassy compound, although a few briefly scaled a fence outside the compound's walls before being pushed back, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

The protesters chanted "Death to Britain" and "Death to America" as they hurled stones into the courtyard of the embassy. They also demanded that the Iranian government expel the British ambassador and close down the embassy, calling it a "den of spies."

Britain's Foreign Office said there had been no damage to the compound.

Video shown on CNN shows smoke coming from inside the British Embassy grounds. CNN reported that this smoke comes from "firecrackers" thrown over the fence by the Iranian mob.

As the United Kingdom attempts to work a dimplomatic solution to their sailors and marines being kidnapped, the Iranians threaten them with 1979-style protests in front of their Embassy.

I thought the younger generation was pro-Western and hated the regime? Yeah, right.

Talk about getting it completely backwards, folks. You kidnap foreign nationals and then get upset when that nation demands them back.

I'm not surprised that Nutjob was able to come up with 200 angry youths. He wants the world to think all the Iranian youths are with him. Only 200.

Shouldn't the British be protesting at the Iranian embassy?

"Only 200"

The video showed that # or less, but it looked like there were maybe 10 - 15 who were "into it" (and probably paid for it) and the rest looked like they showed up to watch.

Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Yes, Jimmah Carter-style negotiations with Iran were a dismal failure (and a Liberal joke) and brought us to where we are today with Iran. Thanks, Jimmah for showing the world what a failure you were as President.

Wow..200. What's the cost of say a 200 person rent-a-mob these days in Iran? Maybe one million a participant or you get to keep your fingers and toes.

Perhaps they are mistaken about a protest and in fact this was just a small yard sale that got out of control.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,--
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

WHAT NERVE!

These islamofascists illegally kidnap British sailors in Iraqi waters...and have the nerve to blame the British over the outrage it's caused.

There is freakin 200 people there out of 70 million people, your comment is quite ignorant. There are more people at KKK rallies.

No, you just like to assume my comment is quite ignorant. I'm sorry, I work with several Iranians. Their attitude is anything but pro-Western, and they live here in the US--just for money, of course.

Of the five, three have openly said that the US deserves to be hit by terrorists. Four have spoken faborably of Hezbollah.

Call me a skeptic. Call me ignorant. I just have routine contact with these people and their associates.

And that was probably more confrontational than I wanted it to be. I just get frustrated hearing this talk about the coming Iranian revolution. From all I've seen, I just don't see it happening.
