Obama says Congress will fund Iraq war
AP ^ | April 1, 2007 | Mike Glover

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - If President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to because no lawmaker "wants to play chicken with our troops," Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) said Sunday.

A very important comment from Obama. He essentially is saying a veto succeeds. A VETO SUCCEEDS. Congress will not even fight the matter.

I suspect this will cost him dearly -- or McConnell was right all along.

The dems trying to set a deadline for troop withdrawl from an war was the most idiotic thing I have ever witnessed them do.

They are a complete discrace to this country.

I don't know that it will. Even some of the insane left base will realize he is right. The dims in congress made their point. That's the best they can hope for at this time without jeopardizing our troops.

I believe he was. McConnell has had cajones since becoming Minority Leader. I didn't believe he was just folding when he announced they wouldn't hold up the vote.

"My expectation is that we will continue to try to ratchet up the pressure on the president to change course," the Democratic presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I don't think that we will see a majority of the Senate vote to cut off funding at this stage."

It is possible to be more vague but it wouldn't be easy.

Hmmm...the KosNazis were furious at Hillary for her war vote and were looking to Obama. Now they will grumble loudly about these comments.

He missed out on the US hate-fest of the 60s and 70s, as he was born in 1961.

What infuriates me about these type of stories is the lack of confidence the Neocoms(aka Democrat Congress)have in doing what they really, really want to do and that is shutting down our action in Iraq. This despite the Neocom medias consistent bombardment with false polls claiming a hundred trillion percent of Americans are against our efforts.

The lack of action by this Neocom Congress brings forth the lie which is told to the American people via ABC news, MSLSD, Communist Network News,(aka cnn)and others, that Americans want us out of Iraq now regardless of the cost.

If members of the two houses know that a veto will stand, what are the chances that they will be able to put real energy into a compromise bill they can both pass?

So far all they have been doing is posturing, rattling sabers at the president.

" The dims in congress made their point. "

Certainly made it to me. They don't give a damn about the hundreds of thousands of lives that would certainly be lost if we said, "Oh, look at the calendar- time for us kiddies to go home. Have a NICE DAAAYY!!!"

Bastards.
