Those supporting Jefferson have something similar to fear. Too bad for Gingrich, this will hurt his WH chances.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), former House minority leader Robert Michel (R-Ill.) and Scott Palmer, former chief of staff for Rep. J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), are among those who have filed friend-of-the-court briefs in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, backing Jefferson's argument that the controversial FBI raid on his office last May was unconstitutional.

Not kosher! Any of the Newtonians around here care to explain this?

Doesn’t surprise me — it’s amazing how bipartisan the critters get when it’s pay-raise time, or someone is threatening their royal privileges, or...

They cease to be donkeys and elephants, and they all become 100% pig (no offense to pigs).

Birds of a feather flock together. The political denizens of DC are for the most part corrupt bastards.

This ought to make your blood boil.

The message is, “Hide the evidence in your office, Congressman. They’ll never look there (if we have anything to say about it)”.

Despicable, scum sucking politicians, all of them.

Gingrich shows he is still a Congressman at heart and just isn’t up to POTUS standards. If he counts William Jefferson, DemocRAT from Louisiana as one of his own ...

Newt’s jumping the shark moment, falling short and being devored for such a stupid move. Potus material, I think not.

I agree with the majority here. They are trying to cover their own butts. There is no telling what any of these crooks have hidden in their offices. They ant that evidence to be sacred when it is hidden in a Congressional office.

Now as for Jefferson the Feds should either charge the man or give him back his bribe money. No case should take this long. IMO they havent got the balls to charge him/

It’s bad enough Newt is supporting this cheating scumbag Jefferson, but Newt has also become best friends with Hillary Clinton over the past few years.

And yet we have freepers here who want Newt to run for the presidency.

Why in God’s name would Newt Gingrich cast his lot with those who believe that a Congressman’s office - - paid for by we the taxpayers - - should be a safe haven for a Congressman to operate a criminal enterprise? It makes me throw up in my mouth a little.
