First of all, it was BRITAIN who was negotiating, not the US.
Second, President Bush (and PM Blair) follow an intelligent strategy which includes choosing your battles.
Right now Congress has held up funding for our military. It would be the height of irresponsibility for the US to bomb Iran (or some other drastic action) while one of our best allies is in negotiations.
“it was BRITAIN who was negotiating, not the US.’
Duh, glad to see you’re on the same page as everybody.
“Right now Congress has held up funding for our military.”
Umm no. The House and Senate have passed emergency supplementals which will be vetoed. There is no cutting of funds.
“It would be the height of irresponsibility for the US to bomb Iran (with UK troops as hostages)”
Excellent point, except that I made the same implied statement by noting that a military response should be taken after the hostages are safely back home.
