All he has really done is get their goat for a time. These recess appointments are almost certainly a death knell for those who are appointed. John Bolton for instance.

However, I think we are in a position at this point where we should take any goat we can find!

This is OK for the short term, but at some point we have simply got to address the problem for real and find a way that Presidents can appoint the people they want to serve them without having to fear purely political shenanigans.

W has nothing but the short term left in his presidency. Too bad Bolton wasn’t named to State and Condi to the UN.

Recess appointments at this stage of the Bush presidency last until December 31, 2008, or just 3 weeks b4 the end of the Bush presidency.

Now, let’s move on with more recess appointments tomorrow, and the next day and the next, and then the one after that. For those who are willing to serve for two years w/o Senate confirmation and can go back to the private sector, who cares if the media and the RATS go loco.

Let’s appoint lots of circuit court judges tomorrow who have been lanquishing in committee or who face uphill confirmation odds.

While we are at it, let’s appoint Ann Coulter to one of the circuits, preferably a vacancy on the DC circuit.
