GOP Gets Swamped in Money Hunt

In the much-watched first quarter of presidential fundraising, the Democratic candidates raised significantly more than their Republican counterparts, creating a huge gap that is putting added pressure on a party already struggling to regroup after the November elections.

According to preliminary fundraising numbers released by the campaigns this week, the combined Democratic field raised about $80 million, compared with roughly $50 million collected by their GOP adversaries.

In 1999, the last presidential race without an incumbent in the race, Republicans raised $33 million in the first quarter, compared with $13 million by the Democrats, according to the Campaign Finance Institute. The disparity was also evident in 1988, when the Republican field reported $19 million in first-quarter fundraising, compared with $3 million by the Democrats.

“It’s a big gap. It’s huge,” said one Republican insider who asked for anonymity so he could speak frankly. “We don’t need to close it in the second quarter, but we need to close it by the end of the year.”

JulieAnnie is 'poison' to the Republican base.

The SPLIT in the Party will just get wider and wider unless the Party nominates someone to excite and energy the base.

Instead you shoud write on it that you will donate when Republican candidates are conservatives and support conservative causes. Quit your support for RINOs.

Good idea. I'll do that from now on.

DINO trumps RINO

DINO attracts money

RINO does not attract money

The rudy-bots may celebrate a guliani primary victory but they will never never never win the election of the wallet.

Keep in mind that Rats get their political contributions from unions, Hollywood, teachers, and other left-wing groups.

It seems like those are the same places the GOP will have to hope to get their money from too.

Then the Republican base I’m sure is giving gobs of money instead to Duncan Hunter...right?

I have been considering it already but in honor of your post, I am sending him a check today.

One never knows...depending on who comes off better in the Republican debates, I could end up sending Mr. Hunter a check.

I’m supporting Mr. Giuliani, but as the primary progresses if it looks like Mr. Hunter and not Mr. Giuliani can beat Ms. Clinton...then, I will support him. The goal is to stop Ms. Clinton. Period.

http://www.city-journal.org/html/17_1_rudy_giuliani.html. Take a look at this by Stephen Moore to show that Rudy Guiliani is indeed a conservative.

Shocking! The Republican base doesn't want to give money to the RINO frontrunners. I doubt RINO Rudy's call for the public financing of abortion is going to help that situation.

In the month of February...

The RNC raised $7,193,876, has $10,753,132 cash on hand, and no debt.
The DNC raised $4,607,507, has $ 7,006,671 cash on hand, and $4,000,000 debt

The gap in presidential donations is a reflection of the essentially 2 way race for rat nominee. Hillary has many rich supporters and Obama is benefiting from the rats who strongly hate Clinton. The GOP has several candidates. We don't want to throw away money on a candidate who may be gone in the first primary when the other guy is just about as good.

The rat media and DNC blog trolls would love to hustle the base into thinking we've already lost 08. Freepers should not swallow the rat media load.

They called me a few weeks ago and I told the lady that I would not be donating to them until they started acting like they should be. She just said have a nice day and hung up. I noticed on my caller id that the group had called again today while I was out getting some medicine for the stomach bug I have picked up. I won’t be returning their call.
