It was time for me to buy another bag of dog-food and I decided I was going to look around for something different for my dogs. This recall business has me a little worried about any dog-food out there. I switched to Natural Balance-Vegetarian Formula dry. My vet reviewed the information I was able to get on-line and thought this would be a good food for my 2 dobes. They really like it so far and the best thing is no wheat products at all.

I bought new food for mine today too and new treats at a high end dog food store. I chose Fromm whitefish and potato formula, replacing Science Diet Sensitive Skin formula. The Science Diet was probably OK, but Fromm is made practically in my back yard. They’ve been making dog and mink and fox food since 1901 and have not been touched by this recall.

If anything goes wrong, I can walk out my back door, cut across a field and walk right into the Fromm owner’s front yard. If that food is bad, I just might carry a shotgun with me, I’d be that mad! (Please don’t take me seriously with that last remark.) My point is that I can reach out and touch the owner if there are any glitches in this food.

Fromm (also known as Federal Foods) makes a number of high performance dog foods. And they are mostly meat — duck, lamb, fish, poultry — and potato — no wheat or corn. I chose the whitefish formula because it had a lot of fish oil in it and I’m hoping it helps my dog’s itchy skin.
