As 15 Royal Navy sailors and marines held in Iran are reunited with their families, what lessons can the forces learn from the returning crew?--snip--Already some military commentators have questioned the use of HMS Cornwall one of the navy's most sophisticated ships designed to hunt down enemy submarines in the North Atlantic as a base for carrying out a policing operation in the shallow coastal waters off the northern Gulf.

It would be interesting to hear from the British Navy as to how they allowed this whole thing to come about to begin with....

I’d send them all back to their original posts, and if it happens again, tell them to shoot the next time.

What lessons can the forces learn from the returning crew?

1. Actually fire back when attacked.
2. Quickly apologizing on TV embarrases your country and gets you home no quicker.
3. A strong offense is a good defense (that the Iranians wouldn’t have tried it had they suspected the Brits would actually do something).

What next for these valiant heroes?

Perhaps a spine-chilling movie about how they survived two weeks sleeping on piles of carpets.

Of course they'd have to get someone really pretty to play the able seawoman....just to spice things up a bit.

Wrong, the lesson is that it DOES get you home quicker!

Just upon your return change your statements 180 degrees so you do not get into trouble with your own authorities :(

Always remember about your pursuit of self interest. Mr Ben Ficklin?
