Pelosi: Overstepping her bounds
NY Daily News ^ | April 07 2007

Posted on 04/06/2007 3:24:45 PM PDT by knighthawk

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her end-the-war Democrats have reliably invoked the oracular wisdom of last fall's Iraq Study Group as the rationale for many of their thoughts and deeds. But now report co-author James Baker, writing in The Washington Post, says Pelosi & Co. have gotten witlessly carried away in their attempt to set U.S. war policy.

Point blank, Baker says that legislatively setting a fixed troop-withdrawal timetable is something the group never recommended at all:

"In fact, the report specifically opposes that approach. ... An arbitrary deadline would allow the enemy to wait us out. ... If the Iraqi government does not meet [stipulated] benchmarks, the United States should reduce its political, military or economic support for the Iraqi government, the report said. But we did not suggest that this be codified into legislation."

Or, to put it another way, Pelosi and her crowd really ought to let the executive branch execute things rather than seek to freelance their own version. The continuing "political dogfight," Baker observes, "can only undermine U.S. foreign policy goals in Iraq and the Middle East."

Which Pelosi quiet succeeded at this week in her smiling tete-a-tete with Syrian strongman Bashar Assad, whose regime is allowing the importation of anti-American weapons into Iraq, has been implicated in the assassination of the elected president of Lebanon and is home base for the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations.

Actively supposing herself to be a vital instrument of U.S. foreign policy, as opposed to a fact-finding congresswoman, Pelosi granted Assad priceless legitimacy and made one clunker of a gaffe when, after the session, she announced that she had conveyed a message that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was ready to negotiate for peace. Which so spectacularly misconstrued Olmert's position that he issued a clarification, calling Syria "part of the axis of evil" and saying Israel would be happy to talk only when Assad renounces terror.

Oh, that. Oopsy. Come home, Nancy.

Pelosi made a complete fool of herself. Not that the dinosaur media will take note.

It would be so sweet to nail her on this, if only there was some justice in D.C...

Prosecute treason.

I agree 100%. This would wipe out 99% of the Liberal Democrats. Too bad no one has the cajones to do it.

We really do need to clean out Congress.

Some Republican voters thought they were doing that last November. Hopefully enough learned the harsh lesson that if you want to throw out your RINO bum, the opportunity to do that is during the primary, not in the general election.

Actually, the Washington ComPost wrote a brutal editorial criticizing Nancy yesterday, and now this in the Daily News today, also a left-wing rag.

They may just drop it when she gets back, but I think she has seriously damaged herself, and not just in the eyes of conservatives. She’s an idiot, and it shows.

Not that she will ever be punished for her outright treasonous actions, but at least she has shown herself to be completely devoid of brains and uncaring about political protocol.

What a dangerous twit!

Does this freakin’ clueless San Fran moron know that the A-rabs were laughing at her behind her back the entire time? When she finally left they were probably rolling on the floor belly laughing. I would love to hear what they were saying about her to each other while she was sitting right there next to them! A woman like has zero credibility with A-rab men and as soon as she opened her mouth her credibility went into negative numbers. But in her way overinflated sense or worth and her constant delusional state of mind, she, just like the Hildabeest, left feeling “they really liked me! I did a lot of good over there!”

Wait until Dick Cheney gets his claws into her on Monday. She will be left wondering wtf fell on her.

When you have no bounds (boundaries), even in common sense or decency, how do you overstep them?

Hopefully this can prove to be a huge enough miscalculation by the Dimwits that it will galvinize enough conservatives to turn them out in 19 months. I hope they keep overreaching - and that Birka picture of Miss America will be the face that launches another Conservative House.

in her desire to ursurp President Bush in all phases of domestic and international policy, pelosi (small p) has even managed to get the LEFT wing rags railing against her..nothing will come of this of course because she’s a dem, but I’d think that the heat is on in a big time way..
