“jigaboos”? I haven’t heard this word in years. Imagine a conservative host having a sidekick say this.
The “Jigaboos vs. Wannabes” comment was a reference to a Spike Lee movie where two separate groups of black girls adopt these names — a reference to the fact that one of them (guess which one) is comprised of lighter-skinned girls than the other.
Heads would literally be exploding. I just got some snide remarks last night right here on FR regarding my screen name.
My sister named our black dog Jigaboo (over 50 years ago). I hate to tell people his name when I give them pictures that he’s in. Good old dog. Deserved a better name than that.
