“This will only encourage kidnapping of British soldiers abroad by terrorists. Britain looks very weak. I wouldn’t be surprised if they fall as a nation soon.”

And where is it we will fall? Off the wagon? Off the boat? At least this page sees everyone agreeing with each other for once, albeit on a topic that doesn’t concern them. Its just a good excuse for a moan and a general acknowledged dislike of all things UK. You would think that there might be more relevent topics for non-UK contributors to attack, but it seems that criticising British policy is all the rage , even when ones knowledge of the country, its politics, its citizens, its geo-political aims, is weak at best.

If our forces in the Gulf are no longer required, the RN warships, the RAF jets and heli’s, the 5,000+ soldiers and the rest of the hardware, then let us know and we can go off and win the peace in Afghanistan instead.

It seems like the option favoured by the vast majority of people here would have been for the Marines and RN Crew to fight back against Iran, losing their lives in the process. Anything other than the sacrifice of their own lives has been viewed as incorrect at best and traitorous at worst. The option favoured by EVERY SINGLE person in the UK is that they are best off ALIVE and FREE, rather than DEAD or still in CAPTIVITY.
