In 1993, Rush talked on his show about something by columnist William Raspberry. When Raspberry heard about it, he responded by writing a column disavowing Limbaugh as a bigot and racist. Then tons of Raspberry’s readers wrote to him insisting he was wrong and challenging him to provide any quotes from Rush to support his contention.
Raspberry wrote a follow-up column apologizing to Rush, acknowledging that he’d never really listened to his show before and that his opinions had been formed by what he heard from friends. I wish the columns were online, but I can’t find more than a few quotes.

The folks at FOX must be loving every minute of MSNBC’s anguish. If they lose Imus, they lose half of their audience. More probably.

Allison Gollust, a spokeswoman for MSNBC, said the network considers Imus' comments "deplorable" and is reviewing the matter. She can "review the matter" all she wants. What's pathetic about the whole episode is that Imus' show probably gets a larger audience than the rest of MSNBC's weekday programs combined. LOL.

Did Sharpton ever explain how the Harlem furniture store owned by Jews burned down? Maybe he could explain that to his 10 listeners today?
To: presidio9
Yes, words have consequences. If Don Imus is not stopped now, he may eventually be using words that will:
1. Incite riots, resulting in the death of an innocent person
2. Falsly accuse innocent people of rape and/or complicity to the rape
3. Disparage an entire major city with a racial epitet
Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can't tolerate any of that behavior

I have an old LP from about 1975 of a stand-up routine by Imus called “This Honky’s Nuts,” I’m pretty sure that you can download portions of it in mp3. Compared to what’s on this, “nappy headed hos” is mild.

Howard Fineman was on this morning. I caught a few minutes..The PC MSM is in a pickle here...Fineman said he had an e-mail this morning from a reader who said that he shouldn’t go on the show..he said that Fineman was “enabling” Imus...when they start to use rehabd terms BEFORE you’re in rehab..you’re in big trouble..

They're in a huge pickle simply because: 1) his show is a top source of ad revenue for both MSNBC
and the radio stations that carry it; and 2) the folks complaining loudest about him belong to a demographic group that doesn't watch him or listen to him anyway (this is why Sharpton didn't pick up on the story for three days).
I'll offer this bit of advice to his local (New York) flagship radio station (WFAN), though . . .
If Don Imus is taken off the air over this, then I'll never listen to ANY programming on WFAN again -- and that includes upcoming New Jersey Devils (the only sports team I follow these days) playoff games, too.

It is amazing that Al Sharpton has any credibility whatsoever. He started his “career” on the Twana Brawley hoax, he instigated a riot in Harlem, and he is a confirmed tax cheat, among other achievements.
Maybe people should call on Sharpton to resign. I am not sure what he should resign from, though. Where does he get his money from again??

You know what Imus should do, to punish all the hypocrits who are dumping on him? He should announce on the air tomorrow, that as a result of his meeting with Rev Al, that he is taking an unpaid leave of absence until Labor Day, he will spend the time reflecting on his faults and the errors he has made, and he has asked Rev Al to take over his show until then..
