Joining a growing list of Republicans, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should consider resigning. Gingrich noted that a president has every right to fire U.S. attorneys for any reason. Therefore, he said, all Gonzales had to do was say that Bush wanted new people. Instead, Gingrich said, the attorney general made a series of misstatements from which he was forced later to backtrack. "This is the most mishandled, artificial, self-created mess that I can remember in the years I've been active in public life," Gingrich said. "The buck has to stop somewhere, and I'm assuming it's the attorney general and his immediate team." In recent weeks, several Republicans have joined Democrats in saying Gonzales should consider resigning, including Sens. John Sununu of New Hampshire and Gordon Smith of Oregon and Reps. Dana Rohrabacher of California, Tom Tancredo of Colorado and Lee Terry of Nebraska.

stick to your guns Alberto.tell the drive by’s to eat ya.
Gonzales broke no laws; Dianne Finestein has been breaking the law for years; Where’s the outrage against her???????
I honestly hope Gonzales doesn’t resign. Not because I’m a big Gonzales fan because I’m decidedly not,but because his resignation would be another feather in the cap of libs,Democraps and the mainstream media who I’ve got even less use for then Gonzales !!!
One thing you can find plenty of replacements for in DC is a lawyer.
Unfortunately she got her job in an election and is much harder to remove on account of it. Gonzales, though, is just another puke who got appointed to a government job. He's easy to remove.
We see the opportunities and we take them.
"W" has got to protect himself by removing Gonzales and his running dog lackeys ~ that includes any holdover Democrats, whether galvanized under GS grades or with a Deputy title.
Sheesh, thanks Newt. Gonzales would be as stupid as he is foolish if he weren’t considering resigning, but who really wins when you bring such a thing to the forefront? When will Conservatives care as much about their disintegrating party as they do about appearing sanctimonious?
But somehow you don't think his resignation would give even more ammunition to the Dimocrats, and further embolden them, convince them they've got the President on the run???
You and the Newtster must be from the same planet.
Way to go Newt. You are acting as cowardly as the rest of the party. Who cares how good or terrible Gonzales is? He is 10X better than any AG who served under Clinton or Carter. The point is that this entire issue is bogus. Gonzales’ biggest fault is that he acted like a wimp in dealing with the attack of liberals (or anticipation of attack) instead of acting tough. Which makes his actions no worse than yours Newt, you cowering-to-the-media wussie.
What are you, a woman-basher? ;-)
Gonzales is certainly not a Conservative.
I don’t see why Newt has to stick the knife between Gonzales ribs like he did to Sen. George Allen. It’s not like Gonzales would be competition for him in ‘08.
But it is nice of Newt to lend the left a hand in this affair. It’s not like they have any help from the media getting their Hate Bush message out.
Thanks Newt. We need more like you.
Not.
Yep, and there is this..........
