Consumer Confidence Falls Again

LOS ANGELES (April 10, 2006) — Consumer confidence slipped for the third month in a row in April, with the IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index registering a pessimistic score of 45.5, an 18-month low. This is down 5.3 points, or 10.4%, from March's reading of 50.8 and 4.8 points below its 12-month average.

Over 50 means optimism; below 50 indicates pessimism.

And yet the unemployment rate is 4.4%. Seems like anyone who wants a job can get one.

Why is everyone worried if they all will get a raise in the minimum wage? And now that the Dems will raise taxes surely confidence will grow. /sarc

It is healthcare spiraling out of control and baby boomers looking to retirement and knowing they are unprepared.

You can add that people see that we can not leave iraq but staying the course is not palatable either.

Add it all up and you get pessimism.
