Ouch.

A couple of our dogs jumped a porcupine a few nights ago. I found some little bits of fur and quills they managed to tear off on the path, and two of them had quills in their noses.

We managed to get the quills out of their noses with a pair of pliers, but they also had a few in their tongues. After trying unsuccessfully to remove those—warning, do not try to remove quills from the inside of even the friendliest dog’s mouth—we took them to the vet’s to be sedated.

Bad enough trying to mess around inside the mouth of a dog with the best of intentions. I do NOT recommend trying it with a large crocodile.
