I agree. I read that quote and it does not even sound like an apology. He should have said. “I am sorry for falsely accusing three innocent lacrosse players of rape and kidnapping and subjecting them to a possible thirty year sentence in prison. It was wrong of me to inflame the local community into a racist pitch seeking vengeance against white males. I did this for my own personal aggrandizement. I am ashamed and what I did. I am not fit to hold public office or practice law. I am resigning immediately. I will fully cooperate with the State Bar investigating committee. I will accept any punishment they deem fit to administer.” That is an apology.
