John Walker Lindh, serving a 20-year sentence after fighting for the Taliban in Afghanistan, has been transferred to Supermax.

Prison officials confirmed the transfer from Victorville, California, Thursday.

Prison spokesman Isidro Garcia said Lindh was moved to the facility about 90 miles south of Denver in February for security reasons.

Garcia said he had no other information.

Lindh was captured in November 2001 by American forces sent to topple the Taliban after the September 11th terrorist attacks.

He was charged with conspiring to kill Americans and support terrorists but pleaded guilty to lesser charges, including carrying explosives for the Taliban government.

Fromw Wickipedia...

...most individuals are kept for at least 23 hours each day in solitary confinement. They are housed in a 7-by-12 ft (3.5-by-2 m) room, built behind a steel door and grate. The remaining free hour is spent exercising alone in a separate concrete chamber. Prisoners rarely see each other, and the inmates' only direct human interaction is with correctional officers. Visiting from outside the prison is conducted through glass, with each prisoner in a separate chamber. Religious services are broadcast from a small chapel.

There is no general populatio there. People familiar with this facility say they’d prefer death.

They're trying to keep Nancy Pelosi from breaking in and liberating him?

I think that’s probably why jonnie was moved from his old place,to much “love” from other inmates.

He recently asked for a reduction in his sentence, did he not?

I guess that didn’t work out too well.

I wouldnt be surprised if the request is connected. Send him to Supermax before the SanFran Sheehan crowd starts picketing and making him a local hero.

Well, sounds like a Club Med - but then, surviving solitary without much damage requires an exceptionally good stock of knowledge and memories- I doubt they are given access to a large library there.
