This is similar to that Bible story where some group of people captured another group, shaved their heads and beards (IIRC) and cut holes in their pants and robes so that their rear ends were seen and sent them home humiliated—http://tinyurl.com/2td9m9 and a huge battle commenced because of the incident...some cultures are really deeply angered by this sort of humiliation, even though it doesn’t seem a big deal to us here in America nowadays.
