Blackcomb open until JUNE 3, 2007! 42+ feet of snow!
I thought the Goracle told us that GLOBAL WARMING was going to kill us all, unless we sent him money for Carbon Credits????

Just another example of the "Only Socialism Will Save US/Algore" hypocrisy....

“Goracle told us that GLOBAL WARMING was going to kill us all”
All I see it killing is our trees, blooms and flowers from the COLD! The pecan tree outside of my shop looks like it won’t make it. The leaves are brown and shrivelled from being frozen just as they formed. We also got a dusting of that white global warming stuff this morning. BBBRRRRRR this heat is killing me.

The vegetation is leafed out even sooner. The presence of snow is not an indicator.

The West Coast of BC just finished a brutal winter - 14 major storms rolled in off the Pacific from November thru March, with huge precipitation included - I think we’re now about 50% above our normal rain/snowfall for the year.
It’s gonna take a long while for that snowpack to melt completely, but in the meantime, we’re being warned of serious river flooding.
To: tcrlaf
Warmer climate = more evaporation = more precipitation. So no, all the snow isn’t disproof of global warming.

And what if the 42 feet doesn't completely melt through the whole summer? You know what you get then?
Glaciers!

“more precipitation” is simply more precipitation.
When warm enough it rains, when cool enough it snows. More snow means when there was precipitation it was cooler.

Thank God. I thought you guys had quit these threads. I love the "Global Warming causes more wild weather!" "Global Warming causes more cold!" "Global Warming causes more hurricanes!". "More snow! More rain! More earthquakes, tsunamis, malaira, aids, leprosy!"
WE'RE DOOMED!!!!

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Sadly some FReepers have surrendered their reasoning to the socialist dogma that is GW.

I'm not saying more snow proves global warming, just that it doesn't disprove it. Hell, I live in Maine; I like global warming.

The West Coast of BC just finished a brutal winter
Not where I live - some miles northwest of Whistler, on the coast. Last night's low was 33, and daytime highs are averaging about 10 degrees below normal, with no end in sight in the 14 day forecast.
Not that bad for us mammals, though more light would be welcome. Those most likely to suffer are the Rufous Hummingbirds, regular summer visitors who breed nearby, and who depend on silal and red huckleberry blossoms, as well as mosquitos, none of which are here yet.
They seem to fit in well with clearings in mixed Douglas Fir/Cedar/Hemlock forests, which fill with silal and hucklebery as well as young conifers. Viewed from above, the female looks like a green silal leaf, and the male like a dead leaf. The mosquitos I will not miss, but will the hummers, who may not survive on our measly sugar water offerings.

The presence of snow is not an indicator.Even the presence of cold is not an indicator that it's not warm. You have to BELIEVE.

We’re waiting for hummers up in the Kootenays, too.
Besides the rufous hummingbird, we get the pileated and calliope. ;^)
Got a 10kg sack of sugar ready to roll!
Meanwhile, we make do with the Stellar’s jays.

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
About 2 1/2 hours north of Vancouver on the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, also know as The Road of Death due to the hazardous nature of the terrain it traverses.
