Yep! I have been there between 1991 and 1996 for studying architecture and was even a few times in the institute where Atta was registered as a student of urban planning (something different to pure architekture) between 1993 and 1999, but never ever met this guy.

Why would a German use the term “African-American” anyway? Is this the universal term for black people even in other countries?
Ya know... you seem to be the only one who picked up on that. Shouldn’t he have said “African-Germans?” Or used one of those quaint Euro-isms, like how they call arabs “asian?”
I just looked at the article in the German paper. The German soldier actually did say “Afroamerikaner.” Egad. Now all black people are Americans? I remember watching a show once where a character said “everyone knows that Jesus was an African American...” The other character said “Jesus was an American? USA! USA!” American culture must really rule the roost. Pretty soon, these folks are going to start calling themselves Eurotrash!!
It still seems that there is still Nazism and racism in Germany. It is very irritating to hear about their hatred against Poles and Americans today.

Yep. It is not suitable to say the German word for nero - Neger - anymore. We had i.e. many products like "Negerkuesse" (Kisses of Negros - a Chocolate-covered marshmallow wafer) that have different names today. In this case "Schokokuesse". Of course most people still call them "Negerkuesse".
Therefore it is political correct to talk about "Farbige" (Coloured people) or "Afroamerikaner". I guess the drill instructor in this video used "Afroamerikaner" to sound more official.
BTW - I never understood what is that bad with the word "negro". For a German there is no logical explanation not to use it. We just know that it is not political correct. Is there a spechial reason for it?

There is something wrong with the majority of Germans. I’ll bet Der Spiegel plays a big role in spreading Nazism and expanding Nazism in Germany now with hatred against Americans and Poles. Maybe they should have banned hatred against Americans and Poles too, just as they have with “hate crime” against Jews.

The Spiegel is indeed critical to American politics, the Iraq war and to President Bush. This critisism is something nessecary in a free contry. To claim that "Der Spiegel" is spreading nazism is really complete nonsense.
