In addition, magazine up around 30 rounds get less reliable. Handguns rely on consistent pressure from the magazine feed spring to work properly. Long springs or rotary systems are less likely to feed consistently.

Discovered KGB files in East Germany documented the at least $10 million Russia sent to creat hate between blacks/white; men/women etc as well as install nihlism as the value in universities, the media etc. etc.

Many globalist forces are hard at work winding up the hate between groups. It will get much, much worse.

There is more to this story. Probably more than we will ever know.

Story is too big, too many witnesses. It will be determined who the shoot was and what he was all about.

Fact is if this was a jealous boyfriend scenario, it will involved a very sick, mentally ill individual, far beyond a love affair gone bad.

Only other scenario left would be terrorism.

Once the perp starts to act, the only way to stop a psychotic killer, who is willing to die, is the rapid application of return fire by whoever is near — Cop, civilian, military, it does not matter who. The more people who are nearby and capable of delivering return fire, the fewer and less serious the injuries to all. People need to be willing to act, to commit, to save others.

Sadly, gun free zones do not allow that.

If all the people on the 9/11 planes behaved like the ones on Flight 93 ...

Citizenship education is seriously lacking in most happy go lucky western countries.

Don't hold your breath. But the police ran the name of a Mohammad Jabiz for driver's licence info over the radio.

Could be a wounded victim or witness, too.

I haven’t followed the girlfriend angle too much. But I had the thought, what if it was a girlfriend or acquaintance at the dorm, and he told her what he had planned for later in the day (Norris Hall.) If she threatened to go to authorities, that would be a reason to shoot her. In that case, the 7 AM shooting would have been the random shooting, and the Norris Hall shooting the planned event.

There's your problem. You seek to make law based upon what you "feel" instead of the Constitution or the available facts.

I don't think he was discussing gun laws. He is was discussing campus rules. Parents and students have choices as to what school to attend. I own several guns and I respect the second amendment. I have a daughter starting college next year and I am not sure how I would come down on this.

I will say that at a minimum, campus security should be well armed and well trained.

Al Qaeda, although liking to do coordinated attacks, doesn’t actually get them coordinated in too many places in the world outside of Iraq, occasionally in Saudi, and a few other places where social control works in their favor.

A trained shooter with ten round magazines would have no trouble. The key is training. Move, shoot, reload, it’s common training for those interested.

I scorn large capacity magazine, the reliability drops rapidly.

I'm not sure the shooter was smart enough to even think the way you guys are thinking.

If you have ever seen the endless video loops on Al Quada training, and take into consideration how they conduct homicide bombings, they always use a decoy.

A gunman could walk into a building, shoot to death one person...WALK out of the building...don't forget it's 7AM and not everybody is up and around yet...get into an accomplice's car...drive to the REAL target...chain the doors..and the rest is history.

I haven't posted a comment on this horrifying event yet today but have been watching the news and reading this thread. Your comment is spot-on, IMO. Those who think that students should be armed are probably just upset right now; or at least I'd like to think that is their reasoning. We know that there are far too many unstable students, and other people, to start calling for students to all be armed. But those in charge of security certainly need to be well-armed.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - A gunman opened fire in a Virginia Tech dorm and then, two hours later, in a classroom across campus Monday, killing at least 30 people

Two hours with no lockdown?? LEO has some serious explaining to do, and/or why CCW is not legal in Virgina Tech.

He may well have gotten the idea from the man who killed the Amish girls.

I was wondering about that earlier myself. However, Amish schoolhouse vs. Virginia Tech. is a bit of a different dynamic.

With the former, you've got (many) fewer pupils, so managing the situation and controlling the people would be easier.

With the latter, you've got adults, who are physically much larger and stronger, and there's more of them.

That said, I'm surprised to hear students actually lined up (if that's really what happened). You'd think everyone would scramble and panic or try to escape.

OMG—Per the survivor report, the perp shot a full clip in the classroom, then left. Never said a word. The survivor (shot in the arm) and another survivor barricaded the door to keep the perp from coming back into their classroom. He shot at them through the door.

Have they for sure identified the gun(s) involved? I have a hard time believing a 9mm could be used to kill that many people. Plus the cell phone clip of the shots made them sound much deeper than a 9mm report.

This seems way too calculated to be the result of a lovers' quarrel.

My own pure speculation....maybe the argument was about the shooting that was about to happen? Maybe she tried to stop him? As I say pure speculation.

<< This seems way too calculated to be the result of a lovers’ quarrel >>

If the girlfriend info is correct, then I’ll bet we’ll find that at the 7:15 shooting, the guy was NOT armed at that time with two weapons, a vest with multiple clips, lock and chains, etc. He got into an argument with his girlfriend, had a pistol on him and then shot her and the RA.

Then he left, and was not thereafter identified or stopped by anyone. He went back to his apartment. Having committed a double murder, the loser figured that if he was going down for a capital crime he would take a lot of other people with him, and that’s when he loaded up with weapons and ammo and chains and went back on campus two hours later and shot many people.

The authorities should have locked down the campus until the perpetrator of the first incident was in custody or they knew he wasn’t loose on campus.

2:20 p.m.

One man was hanging out the window of a Norris Hall classroom when the gunman entered, according to freshman Douglas Cobb.

Cobb said that Jake Grohs, the resident assistant for the fourth floor of Peddrew-Yates residence hall, told him he climbed out the window of an engineering class as the gunman apparently made his way from room to room in Norris.

“He was in the room next door to the shooting” and decided to try climbing out the second-story window, Cobb said. “He was hanging out the window when the person came in” and heard people being shot, Cobb said. He said that four of six people who were in the room at that time where shot.

Grohs jumped out the window onto a hill and is OK, Cobb said.

Cobb and other friends showed up at the Inn at Virginia Tech this afternoon to try to get information about a missing friend.

I doubt they would be running the suspect on an open frequency like that...especially once all the state police and reinforcements showed up. They all love to talk on their Nextel’s

Could be wrong though....during the Burbank shooting here they named the suspects name over the air, saying the D/L was found in the slain officers hand.

Possibly SJS (Sudden Jidhai Syndrome) by someone w/extra ammo exploiting a location that was vulnerable due to local anti-CCW? So far uncertain.

Another possibility: that the phony bomb threats called in over the last weeks were done so to get a heightened police presence on the campus, to make today's victims more hesitant about carrying for their protection without benefit of official permission.

2 Bomb Threats at VA Tech Last Week

Before Today's Massacre, Virginia Tech Received 2 Separate Bomb Threats

By JAN CRAWFORD GREENBURG

April 16, 2007 — - There have been two separate bomb threats in the past two weeks at Virginia Tech that targeted engineering buildings.

The first, in early April, was directed at Torgersen Hall, which is an engineering building. The second, at the end of last week, was directed at multiple engineering buildings.

Students and staff were evacuated, and the university had offered a $5,000 reward for information into the threats.
