Tech killer was 'obsessed' with girl who had new boyfriend (New info)
Timed of London ^ | 4/17/2007

Posted on 04/17/2007 12:41:47 PM PDT by Rutles4Ever

Her smile shines out of the pictures posted on the Facebook website under the title of “Why Emily Hilscher was cooler than me”.

The girl who is believed to have obsessed the Virginia Tech killer, Cho Seung-Hui - and may have been his first victim - had a lot of friends. More than 200 had posted tributes on the website today.

Ella Miller, an old class mate, wrote: “I remember her untieing my shoes with a fork, when we played in the woods around her house in the club house, going to the beach with her and her family. Spending the night at her house and staying up late playing cards, her teaching me how to play the saxaphone, summer crab feasts, swimming in the river, jumping on trampolines in the rain, backstreet boys concert, her putting worms on her nose lol...and it wasn’t just her personality - she was gorgeous!!”

Photographs on the same website show a pretty young woman, preparing for a toga party, going on an 8th grade field trip, and arriving at her high school prom. Described as a straight “A” student, Ms Hilscher, 18, spent most of her free time horse riding and hoped to become a vet.

”I’m interested in pretty much everything,” she wrote on her MySpace page, in which she refers to herself as “The Pixie”.

She added: “My friends are what keeps me smiling. I’m into snowboard, riding and music. Give me something I can bang my head to or dance like crazy, and I’m all over it.”

Ms Hilscher had met a new boyfriend, about whom she gushed about on her page. “I live, love and get booted but eventually that will change...I now have a wonderful guy who is hopefully going to change all of that.” College friends said her new boyfriend had just dropped her off before the massacre.

Ms Hilscher, a first year student who was studying animal and poultry sciences and equine science, was the next-door neighbour of Ryan Clark, a residential adviser at the dormitory where the shooting started.

It is believed that a morning argument in the dormitory at the Virginia Tech campus led Cho to kill the teenager and Mr Clark who had attempted to come to her aid.

Her grandmother, Merle Hilscher, 71, described the tight bond Emily had with big sister Erica, 21, who attended a nearby university. “They were very close all their lives,” she said.

“Now one of them is ended, but we have to carry on.”

On her Facebook tribute page today, Cody Yager wrote: “Emily was one of my first friends here at [Virginia] Tech. How could such a beautiful soul be removed from our lives?”

Will Sonnett from Rappahannock County High School in rural Virginia, said: “Emily Hilscher was cooler than me because she could make friends with a glance and a smile. She never hesitated to make someone, anyone feel at home with kindness and an open mind. Thanks for being awesome to lame little 8th graders, and for making stupid computer classes unforgettable.”

" I was commenting on this alarming practice of "advertising" one's self online."

Yeah, and I commented that it's a socializing thing, not only that it was their right to do so, w/o interference from creeps.

I said that, because you had said it was a "bad habit", and "the fact that she had her face online probably helped fuel the stalking." LEt me make it perfectly clear. She was not responsible for the stalking in any way shape, or form. She is entitled to socialize with her friends w/o interference from stalkers and demeaning comments claiming that her actions led to her stalking, and her subsequent murder. It's equivalent to suggesting rape victims are responsible for their own rapes, because they may have worm certain clothes, attended certain events, or were out after certain hours.

Let me explain something to you bubba; your posts have been filled with accusations that impugn the reputation of one of the VICTIMS.

Everything is speculation at this point so your "accusations" are in very poor taste.

You have claimed the girl is "easy", is odd because of her myspace entry and have made many comments that imply she is somehow immoral. It is SICKENING and DISGUSTING to be making these sorts of comments when YOU KNOW NOTHING AT ALL.

What if her loved ones read the reckless and abusive stuff you've written?

But no, you won't let it go and don't "get it" because you have some kind of mental disorder yourself. Its obvious to everyone here that has read your posts.

I am an old fogey! (At least I'm 50)

And I lived in a coed dorm at college...and truly there was never the slightest consideration of any kind of crime...let alone this horror. But perhaps we were different then.

But who knows? This is a strangely different world than even that of the raucous 70's. We were raucous, but we were not evil or demented.

He owned her in his own mind. I don’t know the extent of their interaction, but he was obviously obsessed.

I am inclined to think, until proven otherwise, that Cho was a baby muslim, who gave it all for Allah.

The Trolley Square mall shooting I believe was "for Allah." I don't think that's the case here. Anyone that is a mass murderer and then commits suicide so they don't have to face the consequences of their actions is a selfish person-it's self-evident.

Just a nit-picky point here: Asians (and people of Asian descent) often look younger than their age (from a European or European-descended point of reference).

Which would translate into Europeans and people of European descent often looking older than their age from an Asian point of reference (Americans of Asian descent grow up in a majority European-descended society, so they'd probably have a European/European-descended point of reference).

I bet he was very insecure if they did date then thats why I bet she broke up with him and once that happen then I bet he became angry with the world and he felt like if I can’t have her then no one can

I bet she ate all the best fried dog nuggets at his barbeque and made him mad.

Idle speculation is the purest of crap.

How is your idea any less crazy than those "embroidering on the word,'loner'?"

Though in your defense, there have been reports of Ismail Ax in red ink on his arm or in a note.

While there is a tendency to paint things in black and white, and so since Cho is a monster, this girl has to be perfect, she still shouldn’t have been murdered in cold blood.

All Christians are representatives of Christianity.

However, Christians are human, and humans have flaws.

Just pointing that out.

You haven't exactly blamed this victim (there were others, too), but your posts are suggestive (at least to some) that she was "asking for it."

You've made your point that this girl was not perfect--the same with all human creatures.

You really need to be grounded in reality as I expect you are about to fly out of your chair and begin to orbit the earth.

I love how you don't mention the salacious picture that is at the heart my question.

The title of this article is "Tech killer was 'obsessed' with girl who had new boyfriend".

I think your are flat out wrong if you think we should not be looking into the relationship these two had; to find out what happened.

You're so concerned about this woman- as am I. But unlike you, I also see 31, thrity one other dead people who(it looks like) had no personal connection to the killer.

Just in case you haven’t looked at all the posts, not only those addressed to you, you are referenced in many of the posts.

Indeed...and that annoying little word "Ismail" written/tatooed/whatever on the shooter.
