Sounds suspiciously like two shots unless they were demostrating a Lewinsky. Were they goofing off instead of attending to duties? Why was the gun out in the first place? At least one person there needs a pink slip.

Sounds like the round hit a hard surface and splattered.

If so it's likely that the wounds to the two agents were not serious since much of the energy would be expended when the bullet hit the hard surface, and the fragments wouldn't have as much potential to do damage.
