17 hours is for the insomniacs. LOL

I get soooooooooooooo verrrrrrry frustrated when every good thing he’s done and there are SO VERY MANY are negated by that one ridiculous stupid incident which keeps getting brought up and incorrectly reported by some who don’t bother to know the truth.

Insinuations of him supporting that jerk are far fetched and untrue and he never said everyone should see it. Actually, so what if he did........that still doesn’t mean he agreed with what the subject was. Clearly in his own words he did not agree.

I let a lot of things slide but when it comes to this I won’t. I’ve been his advocate here on FR many times and I’m proud to do it.

Thanks for the support!

And an excellent advocate you are. My entire Junior fan family thanks you. ;-)

I just heard the following on the radio news on my way to the office. Amazingly, when I did a search for an article, I found the exact words the newscaster read just moments ago:

Taking control of DEI, his late father's company, might come at too high a price for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Last week, ESPN reported DEI offered Dale Earnhardt Jr. 51-percent ownership, which NASCAR's most popular driver quickly denied. That's not to say there weren't informal discussions, rather it could be Junior simply stopped listening once he heard the asking price.

Several people familiar with the contract negotiations said that DEI has not made a formal offer and that any discussions centered around the 51-percent ownership share came with a steep asking price - $55 million or more - that the Earnhardt Jr. camp didn't take seriously.

Incredible asking price, I don't blame the boy for walking away. Does Junior own any portion of DEI right now? If so, that $55 million price tag is even more outrageous for a just few more percentage points.

Thanks for posting that.....I was hesitating since I post so much Jr stuff I was afraid folks were getting tired of me.......LOL.....I just read that on another board. To say I’m speechless is an understatement.

He owns ZERO of DEI, Sr’s will was old and everything went to Teresa. As we know, Dale Jr had to even fight for the rights to use his full name which was just allowed him late last year IIRC.

WHY should he pay what someone would pay to own part of, say for instance, Roush which has championship trophies in their case and 5 teams?? And, WHY should he pay so much money to own what is rightfully his in part? And, BTW add in having to answer to a board of directors which Teresa and Max will sit on which puts him right back in the same boat he’s in now which is not being able to fix the problems with the racing end of DEI. His only purpose in doing this is to make DEI into the racing entity his father intended, not a memorabilia showroom or movie and entertainment venue.

Of course, on the other hand, if he walks what would DEI be worth? :)

Also, for the record I was fairly close in my estimation.... below is what Roushs’ deal was reported by Redsoxnation.com.

According to multiple executives briefed on the negotiations, Fenway Sports Group is in talks to buy as much as 50 percent of privately held Roush Racing, the class of NASCAR, for something north of $50 million.

Forgot about NYTexan - my bad!

What's up with the 51% of DEI = $55 mil+ ?

Hope everything goes around or over you!

$55 million = GREED or possibly thinks it’s a deal breaker??

I wonder what Sr would think of his son, who now carries the weight of the Earnhardt name would think of this price tag? Dale Jr is known to be very frugal, his home is modular there are pics here http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/nascar/2007-01-11-earnhardt-jr-a1-cover_x.htm He bought a used jet and makes payments. A lot of this probably is on the good advice of his sister Kelley who also lives on the property.

I mentioned NYT because everytime he visits here in Texas we have tornado warnings. lol

Aha, it IS your fault. LOL

Although right now the map looks clear, but the red line across the bottom of the TV says differently. These thunderstorms seem to pop up from nothing so suddenly.

News conference at LMS today with Jr and Rick Hendrick... snip~

Q. If he were to win Sunday and get sort of a hail of beer cans, would you consider that a funny thing, a rowdy NASCAR time, or a little bit nasty?

DALE EARNHARDT, JR.: I'd consider it nasty. I think I just don't feel comfortable with beer cans flying onto the racetrack. I'm out there in my race car. I don't feel comfortable with beer cans flying on the racetrack at any point in time, to be honest with you. You see a lot of them are full, half full, hitting people 'cause they're not making it over the fence, knocking people in the back of the head. I've seen that happen on occasion. It's a dangerous business. I don't think it's cool. It ain't cool at all.

Go out in the parking lot and wail a couple beers at your car. Don't throw them at my car or anybody else's, for that matter. Take a couple shots at your own. I think it's ridiculous, to be honest with you. The first time it happened between me and Jeff, it was funny. Then I heard later that people got hit in the head. You could see it on TV, beer cans, full beer cans, were being thrown onto the track.

If a full beer can doesn't make it on the track, hits somebody in the head sitting down in row four or five, maybe an innocent fan, maybe a first-time fan, maybe it's a female or a child, that's ridiculous. Once I found that out I realized the seriousness of that situation.

Maybe get some toilet paper. If you're unhappy with it, throw some toilet paper. It's hell to clean up, but it won't hurt anybody. [Don't tell Sheryl Crow.] LOL

Q. I know you don't want to talk about the contract. I'm not asking you to belie any confidences. Would you say it's fair to say now or all along that this has been, how we can get a deal done, not whether we can get a deal done? Has it progressed at all in that direction or has it ever been anything different than that?

DALE EARNHARDT, JR.: It's not been "if" at all. We've both worked together and it's all been positive. We've just made an agreement between ourselves to try not to talk about it in the media or insinuate anything until we're ready to release the details. Both sides have made that agreement. We had to make it a little bit firmer obviously after this weekend.

We're just trying to work on it without any press, which is kind of difficult. Maybe typically it ain't fair to you or the public, but we like to do this on our own terms here.

Q. You have fans that care about you and your sister, your team, that really sort of have a personal connection. There are fans out there worried about you, what you're going to do. Doesn't seem to me in this whole thing that you've been worried at all. Seems like business.

DALE EARNHARDT, JR.: I think the fans should not be worried. I mean, I've always looked at everything in life, not to be philosophical or anything, but I always look at everything, whatever happens happens. You do the best you can. At the end of the day, if you give it a hundred percent, at the end of the day there's no reason, even if you run last or wreck or blow up, whatever happens, with the contract or anything, you just did your best. That's how you go to sleep at night being comfortable. That's how you can sleep at night. You tried your hardest.

Everything else didn't fall into place for you but you did what you could do. I wouldn't be happy with myself if I was only giving 90%. I know when I went to bed, if you tried that 10, what position would you be in, give that 10%, get that hundred. What position would you be in right now? Would you be happier? I don't give myself that opportunity to worry about it. I go hundred percent every day, do my best. The good Lord's going to take me wherever I go in life. I'll be fine. I'm going to be fine. I'm going to win races. My sister's going to be happy. My mom's going to be happy. My family will be took care of. My friends could care less. Hopefully my fans are real happy. We get down the road, get the job done.

OK we're going to Jr's car if he wins Dega this weekend. Out of respect and if only for the fact that he will get a big kick out of it!!

This was Bruton Smith's contract for Jr....I guess if he did all those things he would get a Big Contract" for .51 percent of the speedway in return for services performed during the May NASCAR races at the Concord, N.C., track.

I’ve had my say on the contract so I will remain mute on the subject, however, ANYONE who throws ANYTHING over the fence at a race track should be beat to an inch of their life and banned forever from any racing venue anywhere in the world.
