One thing I don’t understand is why VaTech administrators were coy about the identity of the killer. They had to know after the first killer who the likely person was, but his name was not made public until a day later.

The story about the Chinese individual was a distraction.

I’m not being critical, but it just seems strange.

Perhaps because they were still investigating, and didn't want to make his name public yet.

Officials searched the home in Centreville that night, and they had to get a court order first.

After the first killing, police picked up the first girl victim’s boyfriend, thinking he was the perp. He was the “person of interest” until gunfire started in the engineering building.

And Korean, like Chinese, is oriental. Not PC, but hard for caucasians to differentiate.
