How utterly stupid.
As far as I can tell, almost nobody is giving Corzine the benefit of sympathy on this matter. If he wants to lose those few who do support him, he should go ahead and blame the trooper.
Even My Favorite Liberal (Mrs. gridlock) is giving Corzine the business these days.
Okay, that’s different.
But, just me, I still wouldn’t do that with my entire family in the van, especially a vehicle that I was not all that familiar with.
And, yes. I have lived in Germany previously, and for several years.
I agree: the longer one lives in Germany, the more one realizes that “freedom” is hardly a way of life there.
It is not speed that caused the problem here. It was reletive speed that caused the problem. The Governor's vehicle was overtaking slower traffic with a reletive speed of 30 mph. When things started going bad, the hazard closed so fast there was no time to avoid it.
If everybody is moving along a well designed road at 100 mph, things are actually much safer.
However, I do not believe he should be held responsible for that 60 yr old's ignorance...
Man, your last three replies are -
1) Stupid
2) I would not have done that, stupid
3) Not free in the land of the free.
Did you want to talk, or just bloviate?
I agree - relative speed is a killer.
And, it is taught in German driving schools.
Being a liberal means you never have to 'grow-up'. (It also means that nothing is your fault)
I'd say there wasa major case of CYA from the start, through the attempted trashing of the other driver involved.
An AP article earlier today suggested that Corzine was issued a ticket for not wwearing the seatbelt. Was he or wasn’t he? The artivcle was descroibing how more then 200,000 tickets had been issued to NJ drivers for seat belt violations. If Corzine had already been ticketed, then I doubt this article would be hashing the trooper’s role in Corzine not wearingf a seat belt. I do wonder if the AP basically lied by inferrence.
91 mph in a 65 mph — what are they thinking — that New Jersey has a new autobahn?
And no seat belt? If Corzine gets a ticket, can he issue a pardon for himself?
Or are we just supposed to accept the fact that some politicos think they are above the law and don’t have to obey the laws anyway?
You knew it was coming. Now you know why the guy was not charged. Because it was the governor’s fault.
Figures that they’d announce this little detail on the day after the Va Tech killings.
So the police union is blaming the red truck. Makes you wonder who elected the union chief?
Our friend Mr. Policeman.
He is reflecting the view of those he was elected to represent.
If Mr. Policeman was traveling at 75 mph with his lights on, the red truck would of seen the Mr. Policeman, with more time to react.
Just as Mr. Policeman does not write tickets for his union buddies, the rational being they are above the law. Mr. Policeman's union represents the view they are above the law by blaming others.
The red truck was not racing to chat with Imus.
Isn’t part of the problem here that the Suburban has a high center of gravity —
and the other is at that high rate of speed and the problem of over-steering?
Don’t know, have thought about it and wondered. Any engineers out there who knows?
Rasinki should now be assigned to drive Ted Kennedy.
Who caused the greatest damage to the citizens of New Jersey? A remark from a shock jock, known for his tongue in cheek humor, or the Governor, racing to capitalize on the publicity?
In a classic example of Poetic Justice, Mr. super rich, know it all, have it all, John Corzine, illustrated the consequences of the lust for power.
Truth or consequences. Isn’t that the name of a place in New Mexico?
From what I’ve read,Corzine is not too receptive to being told to do ANYTHING.He made the decision not to wear a belt and ordered the trooper to speed.Anything bad that comes his way after that is on him.
It’s completely Corzine’s fault. He chose not to wear the seatbelt. He allowed the driver, probably even urged the drive, to speed. He is the one in charge.
