What’s wrong with doing 90 mph? Last week, I did 180 kph (112 mph) in a van, with my entire family in it.

We escaped unscathed.

If it hadn’t been a POS rental, I am sure I could have done 150 mph.

You must live in Southern California where speeding seems to be a way of life...

It is not speed that caused the problem here. It was reletive speed that caused the problem. The Governor's vehicle was overtaking slower traffic with a reletive speed of 30 mph. When things started going bad, the hazard closed so fast there was no time to avoid it.

If everybody is moving along a well designed road at 100 mph, things are actually much safer.
