There were 2 or more threads yesterday bringing up this same matter, but will less conviction. It clearly seems to be a Muslim reference, since the Islamic spelling of Ishmael is used. The question is, what else about this nut do we not know? Will we ever know?

Quite frankly, I think the fact that he never spoke to anyone, took pictures of classmates without warning, and stalked girls are all far more indicative of the problem than whatever he had scrawled on his arm - there is no other indication that he was in any way interested in Islam. He was some random lunatic, not a jihadist. Different problem altogether.

I wonder whether people are scouring online videogame logs/servers for whether someone commonly used a character name "Ismail Ax" on online Quake or Warcraft or whatever is popular now. People really should be because that's the first thing I thought of, and the first place I'd look.
