Officials from a Los Angeles charter school are suing KABC-AM (790) and "McIntyre in the Morning" host Doug McIntyre for slander, alleging the school was the target of an on-air, racist campaign that led to a bomb scare.
Academia Semillas Del Pueblo and its principal director of operations, Marcos Aguilar, filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. They are seeking unspecified general, compensatory and punitive damages.
"McIntyre implemented a premeditated scheme to bring down the school at all costs because the school educated predominately ... Latino-indigenous children in a non-Western European format," according to the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, McIntyre began criticizing several aspects of the school last May, including its funding, curriculum, demographics, administrators and educational statistics, all in order to increase his show's ratings.
McIntyre exploited a combination of anti-immigration sentiment and the nation's fear of Islamic terrorists to "create a racist fury against Latino school children, teachers, administrators and staff at the school," according to the lawsuit.
McIntyre's remarks included, "Is this a reconquista school?," "This school is ranked the lowest of the low in the LAUSD and in the state of California" and "Aztecs butchered and ate Spanish invaders. I wonder if they're teaching that at ASDP," according to the lawsuit.

“...because the school educated predominately ... Latino-indigenous children in a non-Western European format”
So what NON-LATIN language are these kids being taught? Spanish comes from SPAIN. Not Mexico.
Busted.
good, let it go into trial...
Simple solution — call the INS on them.
Hey Karl, I wonder if KABC will have Doug’s back?
Regards.
They are teaching the kids in the Aztec language....I would only butcher it up if I actually tried to spell it hear.
“McIntyre began criticizing.....its funding, curriculum, demographics, administrators and educational statistics,”
Maybe he’s right to criticize the school. What do they want to hide? The CA taxpayers are the ones who pay for everything, so they should know what theyre paying for, and if the school is failing...
“Latino-indigenous children in a non-Western European format,”
Say Huh???? How PC can you get????
“Aztecs butchered and ate Spanish invaders.”
If they did, it’s just history...
“I wonder if they’re teaching that at ASDP,”
I wonder too. Do they teach History at that school?
“This school is ranked the lowest of the low in the LAUSD and in the state of California”
Is it? If it’s near the bottom, technically he told the truth.
“The radio host also used “code words” “
Probably said there were “illegal aliens” at the school.
“The reporter saw a silver sedan speeding straight at him, but he jumped out of the way and was not injured”
Well these are just peaceloving, nice families.....
“In a March 13 report on Academia Semillas del Pueblo, the staff cited low test scores, unconventional instruction and potentially conflicting school governance. About two weeks later, facing growing political pressure from former City Councilman Richard Alatorre, former Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg and others, the staff changed course.”
Hmmmmmmm Seems like this PUBLIC school was not in accordance with established CA guidelines. The teachers should be fired, and the kids sent elsewhere to be IMMERSED in English in other schools...
If I taught my child like that in a home school setting I’d be in trouble with the law...
And, for some reason, they also teach Chinese. What a crock!
Obviously, someone forgot to mention to the Principal that Calif. standardized tests are testing English literacy.
Anyone else still convinced that diversity is such a great thing?
Homogeneity always runs smoother. Always. Encourage it, live it. Teach a people shared values, and let them build from that. But a people who do not share a common foundation will soon beginning fighting. It’s been that way time immemorium.
“And, for some reason, they also teach Chinese”
Interesting! China seems to be pushing it’s influence throughout Latin America.
China wants cheaper labor.
suit going nowhere....it is opinion, asks questions....
Oh, Good grief!!
Free speech for me, but NOT for thee!!
This is the danger of this kind of cultural thinking!
what happened to the court case?
I looked it up cause i had some time....

Lawsuit Against KABC-AM Tentatively Dismissed
(CBS) LOS ANGELES A judge Tuesday tentatively dismissed a lawsuit brought by a Los Angeles charter campus against KABC-AM and its morning host, alleging he led an on-air, racist campaign against the school that led to a bomb scare.
Academia Semillas Del Pueblo and its principal director of operations, Marcos Aguilar, filed the lawsuit May 17 in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging slander and civil rights violations. Superior Court Judge Ralph W. Dau stated in a written ruling that the remarks made by “McIntyre in the Morning” host Doug McIntyre were opinion and not a “command to imminent violence or other lawless action.” After hearing arguments Tuesday morning from the attorneys concerning his ruling, Dau said he was taking the case under submission. He did not give a date for a final ruling.....In a declaration submitted to the court on Oct. 15, McIntyre said he found the bomb threat against the school deplorable and offered $1,000 of his own money as a reward for bringing the perpetrator to justice. “That offer remains standing today,” McIntyre’s declaration states.
McIntyre also denied his use of the word “madrasa” was meant to insinuate that the school was teaching students jihadist philosophy or instructing them how they could become revolutionaries.....Meanwhile, a man who aimed his car at KABC radio reporter Sandy Wells and snatched the newsman’s audiotape as he tried to interview parents and others outside the school on June 1, 2006, was sentenced in May to three years probation. Ramon Flores also was ordered to pay $174 to Wells — who jumped out of the way of the speeding sedan and escaped injury — and complete 400 hours of service on a Caltrans crew.
