Reading Justice Anthony Kennedy's opinion in the partial birth abortion decision, just handed down, can be tough going even for a recovering lawyer like me....
Kennedy cites a 1992 presentation by a Dr. Martin Haskell describing the method of "intact D&E" ("dilation and evacuation"):
The surgeon then forces the scissors into the base of the skull or into the foramen magnum. Having safely entered the skull, he spreads the scissors to enlarge the opening.
The surgeon removes the scissors and introduces a suction catheter into this hole and evacuates the skull contents.
After quoting this clinical description, Justice Kennedy goes on to relate the eyewitness testimony of a nurse who witnessed the same method performed on a 26-and-a-half-week fetus:
The baby's little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his little feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors in the back of his head, and the baby's arms jerked out, like a startle reaction, like a flinch, like a baby does when he thinks he is going to fall. The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high-powered suction tube into the opening, and sucked the babys brains out. Now the baby went completely limp.
He cut the umbilical cord and delivered the placenta. He threw the baby in a pan, along with the placenta and the instruments he had just used.

oh dear God...
Rage, wrath, and sadness are among the many feelings that surged through my body when I first heard about this procedure.
I wouldn't treat a dog like that, much less a human.
But of course Barbara Boxer is horrified at the fact that we CAN’T do this to babies!
I know I’m going to get flamed for saying this, but the fact that some women can ignore the cruelty and gore of this procedure in the name of their ‘personal rights’ is absolute proof that women are not by virtue of their gender more compassionate and emotional than men. It’s a case by case, gender independent issue. No compassionate, emotional person can argue in favor of this procedure.
If you did treat a dog like that, they’d throw you in jail.
Bttt
No words here; only tears....
This makes me sick.
You won’t see Perky Katty Kouric read that on the SeeBS news.
Horrible.
I have one question: If it was a “partial-birth” abortion, how could the nurse see hands, feet, and head?
And quit calling a baby a “fetus.”
If he treated ANY animal like that before he went to jail:
1. The local SPCA would picket his home and workplace
2. The local PETA would have a candle-light vigil in
memory of the poor animal.
3. The local TV outlet would have his picture on the news
that night and the next day.
4. A warrant would be issued for his arrest and trial.
5. The judge would issue a scathing lecture from the
bench.
6. His arrival at the jail would be a relief.
“the back of the head” is not the head. The back/base of the skull is brought out, pierced, opened, the the catheter inserted to suck the brain out.
Thus the name “partial birth”.
Or at least read the nurse's description.
Even better, legislate every woman having an abortion read that.
Bundles of nerve mass my ass.
This kind of abortion? THIS KIND? It's ALL THIS KIND of abortion! A regular abortion involves pulling the baby's arms and legs off and sucking his whole body through tube into a jar. You can see his fingers and toes, eyes, and even his heart in the jar. It's all the same, it's just the doctor doesn't have to pull the baby so far out before doing it.
(Of course, if the doctor doesn’t care about the fine points of the law, or makes a slight mistake, or just wants to make his job easier and the skull more accessible, he delivers the baby - then murders it anyway).
