One third of Americans say global warming ranks as the world's single largest environmental problem according to a new survey conducted by the Washington Post, ABC News and Stanford University. That's double the number who considered it of most import last year.

Seven out of 10 of those surveyed want the federal government to do more to combat climate change and "by a 40-point margin, the public trusts congressional Democrats more than it trusts President Bush to handle global warming," writes the WPost.

Climate change might yet become a key election issue then. Al Gore, are you listening?

I think this is exceptionally good news.

My family loves the holiday of earth day. We go to a fast food place that sells beef farmed from the rain forests, that still puts their stuff in styrofoam containers, then we throw everything out the window of our gas guzzling car when we are done over eating....such memories.

Do not combat “Global Warming” - embrace it for the blessing that it is. A TRAILING indicator of small changes in the average temperature of our planet, is release of greater amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, both from terrestrial sources (more rapid decomposition of organic materials into carbon dioxide, water vapor and ammonia) and from decreased amounts dissolved in warmer water (gases are LESS soluble in warm water than in cold water). This carbon dioxide is an important part of plant growth, and is probably second only to presence of water as a limit to the growth of vegetative material. And without plants constantly manufacturing carbohydrates and fats from carbon dioxide, water, and sunshine (with the side reaction of generating oxygen), ALL animal species would soon wither away and die off. Through starvation and anoxia, as the oxygen in our atmosphere is depleted, and as the food supply from vegetative sources becomes scarce.

But all that is probably way too many packets of information for the typical ‘Greenie’ to absorb. They are pretty much confined to linear thinking, even if it turns out to be closed into a circle, making it circular thinking as well.

All those for the Federal government legislating laws to prevent climate change should identify themselves as such to the IRS and make their income available for additional payroll deductions to buy Carbon Offsets, and invest in wind powered turbines. They should pay three times what they do at the pump to “save the planet” and they should pay more for meat, air travel, etc. They should put their wallet where their mouth is. The government should have a voluntary program and anyone who wants can join, let's see what percentage does.

I'm surprised the numbers are not higher considering the amount of effort the media has put into selling this idea to the morons.

Once the laws are put in place to cripple the economy and these dolts are huddled under blankets with no jobs, no gas in the car, no food, light, or heat in the house, I doubt that it will occur to them even then as they starve and freeze, that someone just might have been lying to them.
