Alec Baldwin issued an apology on Friday for unleashing a volcanic tirade at his 11-year-old daughter and blamed "certain people" for leaking the rant to US media.
The Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed" branded daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a fiery voicemail message that emerged on celebrity websites on Thursday.
It is the latest twist to the bitter legal wrangling between Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger over custody and visitation rights relating to Ireland. The couple split in 2001.
Baldwin's tirade was apparently triggered by Ireland's failure to switch her mobile phone on for a scheduled call with her father.
"Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time.

Anyone who has kids knows a parent can lose their temper and say stupid, hurtful things.
But for a mother to expose her daughter to this public scrutiny is deplorable.
The young girl has my sympathy.
Does he still call, or is this some time ago?

6. However within minutes of our conversation, Mr. Levin published the voice-mail message between Respondent and his daughter and other information.
7. Petitioner is the only parent with custody, possession and control of the minor child's telephone voice-mail message that was dissemination to Harvey Levin and TMZ.com.
8. If Mr. Levin had a tape recorded message between Respondent and the minor child, it had to have originated from Petitioner or her employees, agents, or attorneys.
9. I do not know how Mr. Levin received any information about the court proceeding that was closed to the public, but again, it had to have come from someone connected to the proceeding, and it was not me.
10. The Court closed the courtroom, pursuant to Family Code 214, in order to protect the minor child of the parties from unwarranted public intrusion or publicity, which it deemed not to be in the best interests of the minor child. Moreover, what was to be discussed, was already the subject of previously sealed pleadings and closed proceedings.
11. The Court conditionally sealed the pleadings filed by the Petitioner and Respondent and provided me with the time I needed to file a formal Motion, which it asked me to set for hearing on May 4, 2007.
12. Respondent urges the Court to set a hearing to determine the source of the leak and whether and how its Orders have been violated. Information has been leaked to the press intentionally. The specific source is unknown, but it could only have come from Petitioner's side of the case. Whether the act was intentional, negligent or reckless, it goes against the Court's stated desire to protect the child from unwarranted publicity.

He calls every night to speak to our son. We have never gone back to court and it’s been almost four years. He hasn’t left an angry message for a while. He’s remarried and new wife and him are expecting a baby in a couple of months.
No, I don’t own a gun. He doesn’t come over unannounced. He actually doesn’t like to speak to me at all. My son has some anger directed at me and we just started seeing a counselor. He is 8, and I do not want him growing up to be angry toward women. The ex had to go to a session this week with my son and in a phonecall, not message, he thinks the counselor and I are crazy! And that he’s going to court to get custody!
What a narcisist... no wonder his wife left him if he's so wrapped up in himself and all.

Baldwin is hateful and cowardly. Real men take on
people their own size and gender. But in this case
Baldwin is the child and he was totally outmatched.
Ireland completely outclasses him and she doesn’t
have to be a victim. She can do just fine knowing
some people shouldn’t be parents. Her Father is
merely that. Baldwin will never be her Dad.
Once when my ex-husband was going into one of his ususal rants and called me the C word, I said to him that My father, my boyfriend of 15 years and my seven brothers never called me that and to have my husband call me that, that’s disgusting! I don’t miss the abusive puke at all. Good luck to his new wife.
How do you know she didn’t deserve this? I find it amazing that in a land where people have no control over their children we are constrained to Marquis of Queensbury rules to correct them.

She didn’t want to talk with him because her mother taught her a new game, one that was fun and got her stuff.
Well, I grew up next to dirt poor, we had it real rough. Without a garden we would have gone hungry many days. Dad & Mom hauled out the hardware when we got out of line. Yes I am talking about wooden handles & hairbrushes and the classic switch at times. This was never an every day occurance mind you. What they never did was try to demean us and belittle us like that. There is no excuse for calling your child names like that. It shows what a bitter turd he is. Looking back us kids & especially me, deserved the physical punishment we got. We always got the hugs at the end of the day. THAT is what it is all about.
