You don’t even have to go back to 2002...Toomey vs. Specter. You could even potentially add McClintock vs. Ahnold in Kollyforneea to that list.

Huh? Having a different candidate in a primary constitutes sabotaging the party? That is absurd. My examples were of moderates actually leaving the party to sabotage the GOP candidate in a general election.

Oh, sorry, I misinterpreted. I read what you were talking about as a more general “GOP establishment supporting the squishy moderate/liberal/RINO over a true conservative candidate that could win.” My bad.

In that case, I think you were right, I can’t recall any other examples.
