IRAN: University Female Students Rebel Against Veil

Tehran, 19 April (AKI) - Female students at Tehran Polytechnic University, where students protested against Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during a visit last December crying 'dictator go away' and throwing firecrackers, are staging a major protest against new regulations enabling police as of 21 April to arrest women who do not abide by the Islamic dress code. A group of 700 female students organized a rally on campus and signed a letter to the dean calling the new rules "an offence to the dignity of women" and accusing him of "wanting to extend to academia the sexual apartheid imposed by the government on Iranian society."

Authorities immediately reacted on Thursday withdrawing the students' university ID cards which are mandatory to access campus and classes.

The students will now have to face a disciplinary commission which will decide whether they will be allowed to continue their studies or be expelled.

On Wednesday, Iran's police chief, Gen. Ahmad Moghaddam, said that women who do not wear the veil and don't abide by the Muslim dress code "are tools of the enemy, who tries to destroy the system by spreading a cuture which goes against Islamic values."

University Female Students Rebel Against Veil

Reminiscent of the 60's bra-burnings. The movement sagged after that.

Things could get ugly without some of those veils.

Reminiscent of the 60's bra-burnings.

But no woman in this country had to fear for her life because she chose to not wear a bra.

As the civil rights movement eventually sought superiority (affirmative action, white guilt), not equality, so did the feminist movement.

The Civil Rights movement was needed to correct an imbalance, the feminist movement did also, but much less so as most women were treated more fairly than most blacks.

By the time of the bra burning in the 60’s, women had received the equality that eliminated most of the imbalance. The bra burning was a signal that they were going to move ahead with conquering men.

Comparing what is happening in Iran with the bra burning is fallacious. The women in Iran are seeking to be treated as humans, not as superiors. In that regard, it is an attempt to rectify an imbalance that is far worse not only than that between the sexes in the 60’s, but even more than the racial inequalities.

The position of women in Islamofascist countries is closer not to that of their “womyn komrades” in Western countries, but to that of slaves in 19th century America.

I hope they succeed. But I also hope they learn from America’s mistake and do not allow a civil rights movement to be hijacked by Leftists whose tactic it is to assemble separate minority groups into a majority voting bloc simply to turn their country into a collectivist state, as has been happening in America. That is, I hope they don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.

And such further offense to God. Let the matter be widely known, condemned and fought! This can become a weapon such to use.

“whistle Dicks “ is that an insult or a compliment? Surely a nice shiny whistle gets blown a lot? Or failing that wetting one’s whistle may be nice alternative.

These women are actually very brave to try something like this. They have no power, unfortunately.

Hollywood is so short-sighted. That they think they'll be able to carry on in their scuzzy ways if we were taken over by radical Islamists is really stupid. The left deals with an ideal (imaginary) world. We conservatives deal with reality. Reality is much tougher.
