I hear you there. If it’s not a real news story, but a this is why candidate X is bad thread, I don’t even look at it.

So much is at stake.

I refuse to get caught up in the anger. Just the facts.

Just to insert a lighter note into the conversation today. If someone else has posted it here, I missed it, but I certainly got a belly laugh out of it:

Bill Clinton Ambassador

Watch out, there are plenty of Freepers that are named Harold, and they are not metrosexual numbnutz like Howeird Fineman. Howeird Fineman wants so badly to feel important, but he is so tied to Chrissy Matthews he sometimes seems like a siamese twin. I wonder if the regulars on Hardball wear wash and wear clothing that could not be damaged by Alcohol tainted Saliva? That is a disgusting thought, sorry I mentioned it. Too late........Can you imagine Spit Matthews as a Moderator for any debate and all the Candidates show up wearing Slickers? ROTFLMBO!

well Schumer does not get to decide anything, he is not President. He is a Commie Pinko worthless piece of Human Debris from a State that would elect Castro/Hitler if he moved there and had a D after his name. The Majority Population of Welfare recipients, left wing nuts and probably illegals get to say who the Senator is in NY and look what they have. a good portion of the State did not vote for the Gruesome twosome of Schumer and Hitlery, but get screwed over by the Majority that live in the Cities.

The only good thing about Gabler that I can ever say is that he has a very nice smile. That being said, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer had nice smiles also when they were not murdering and mutilating people. I put Gabler in the same category as Lawrence O’Donnell, he does not need to be on any Broadcast network, he needs to be in a Rubber room.

Afternoon, rg, all.

Sorry I’m late. My puter/internet connection was on the fritz.

Spent a lot of time banging my head. Recommend that you not try that.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if any city reaching a population of say, 2 million would be made an independent city-state, and free the rest of their state from their political influence.

The political map would be a bit different.

Yep. It’s more useful at this point to see:

what they have done to date (votes cast, political actions completed, groups they are clearly associated with)

What they have said to date on key issues (and not just what they are saying now. More like over the last 10 years)

Who is actively endorsing them (lobbyists, political groups, businesses, other politicians, etc.)

We get and will get spin enough. But we need to let their own record and connections speak for them to help us make decisions on where they stand, and how they handle themselves and how they do business.

This English Department couldn’t have helped. Sheesh. http://www.english.vt.edu/grad/faculty.htm

Wow! Plenty of gobbledgoop jargon in those resumes. A few of them seemed grounded, though. This one in particular:

Bob Hicok
Assistant Professor

I write poems and stories. I have little faith or interest in my thoughts on writing. Those who do a thing are often too close to be perceptive commentators, particularly where love is involved. I love writing, maybe most of all because it doesn’t matter, because poems don’t lift bridges or make refrigerators shinier. The nakedness of the endeavor—just one person, sitting at a desk, trying to express something they feel in a way that will allow others into their mind—may be among the most human things we do. We are the mouths of the world, and through poetry we speak.

While I think that Baldwin said some really horrible things to his daughter, he sounded like he was hurt, frustrated, and childishly pouting. I think Sean blew the entire thing out of proportion, and he let his anger for Baldwin use the really nasty phone call to hurt him. God knows Baldwin is a loose cannon typical Liberal Rat, but when Sean plays this stuff over and over again, it is too much like NBC and the Media playing and replaying Cho’s insanity. There are plenty of People that would not want custody battle BS to be aired for all the world to see and hear. There are enough Dads getting the short end of the stick without this kind of stuff being allowed to air. I wish Baldwin moved to France, but this sounds like there is a lot more going on than this Nasty Phone call. Both Basinger and Baldwin are horrible role models, and I feel sorry for the Child, this cannot do anything but hurt her especially if she loves her Father.

Yeah, but look at that picture!

That looks like a picture of a serial killer if ever I saw one.

Some of it sounds interesting to me....when I was an English faculty, I was interested in how students develop metacognitive strategies which allow them to gather the information, study, and decide how to communicate what they do in writing. Good students have fine metacognitive approaches, and poor students don’t. It’s not formally taught, usually, and if one could enhance the ability of students to do it better, one would enhance their performance.

It sounds like gobbley-goop to the uninitiated, though.

I am now about 15 years behind the academic trends, though. English instruction has its fad cycles, just like everything else.

Their faculty, IMHO is truly weak on the stuff that produces great literature, I believe, though, because it’s not in, or pc right now, and that’s the great dead white men who wrote wonderfully well.
