Vote des Français dAmérique : Nicolas Sarkozy arrive largement en tête avec 40 % des suffrages exprimés. Ségolène Royal recueille 29 % des voix
Taux de participation record à midi : 31,21 % contre 21,4 % en 2002
Interacting = fighting?
Je surrender.
No, it is a poll made with people who just voted.
The American French give 40% to Sarkozy and only 29% to Segolene.
MODS: The new title is misleading.
The 40% figure is only for votes from “America” - which could mean either the US or any other country in North or South America.
It is not the figure for the election as a whole.
In the US, it would be what we call an exit poll. That is understood.
What’s not clear is what counts as the “votes from America” which may or may not include the French overseas terroritories in North and South America.
Je too!
Pray for W and Our Troops
22 avril, 17h27 FIRST EXIT POLLS:
Nicolas Sarkozy: 30%
Ségolène Royal: 25%
RECORD TURNOUT!
31,21 %
21,4 % en 2002
VOTE OF FRENCH LIVING IN THE US :

Admins want to kill this thread so drzz can update us in english?
Still not entirely correct since “Francais d’Amerique” could mean French living anywhere in the Americas. The general french term to specify the US is “Etats-Unis” sometimes shortened to “E-U” (which the frogs do not confuse with the European Union because in French it is the UE or “Union Europeene” -forgive the lack of accents on this computer.
Sorry drzz, your blog page isn’t loading.
What is the French parliament like? Is it similar to the US’s or is it more along the lines of the UK?
Fascinating either way though, thanks for the information and updates!
audace audace tojours audace!
This is French living in the US. All predictions in the US have had a blowout for Sarko.
Brief synopsis:
73.87% turnout as of 5 p.m. Paris time, expected to reach 85%-87% by 5:45. Largest turnout in the first round of voting since 1965.
OK, the first estimations and exit polls:
http://www.20min.ch/ro/news/monde/story/28173691
According to sources close to the HQ of UMP (Sarkozy’s party) he is leading with 30% to 25% for Mme Royal, the centrist Bayrou 17% and J-M Le Pen 13%.
According to CSA Sarkozy and Royal are running neck and neck, 26% each with LePen on 17% and Bayrou on 16%.
Ipsos says 27.5% for Sarkozy vs 26% for Royal, 17% LePen and 16% for Bayrou.
On va voir (We will see) as the say in France.
:)
See 33: Largest turnout since 1965. French media are forbidden from disclosing exit poll numbers until the polls in France close (can’t remember exactly what time they close though. 8 p.m. Paris time, I think.)
Sofres, also has it dead-even: Sarkozy 26%, Royal 26%, Le Pen 19%, Bayrou 13%
As expected, close between the two top candidates, Le Pen doing better than in the polls, and Bayrou worse then the polls.
We’ll see. Just as exit polls in the US undercount the Rebublican vote, French exit polls will undercount the Sarko/Le Pen vote and overcount the Socialist/Far Left vote.
Sarkozy is a bit to tight with Royal for my tastes, with a second round of voting upcoming, will Sarkozy be able to maintain momentum or will the French vote for more of same slow, soft slide into economic impotence?
(In France exit polls are not allowed to published until the voting is finished.)
