Wow, I’d be running away too! High as those flames are though they are not 1,000 feet. I fly a lot and believe me 1,000 feet is pretty high. Can’t really tell about the distance to the flames in the pictures and the angle at which the shots were taken, but I’d guess they are in the 500 to 600 foot range.
500, 600 or 1,000 that’s a lot of flame!
That building is in the 14-story range, which puts the building at a max of 175 feet. Based on the perspective lines shown in the second photo, the flames aren’t much higher than the building... certainly not more than 25% higher than the building. That puts the flames at a max of about 200 feet high.
