Wasn't Yeltsin a spokesman for Smirnov?

Yup...he was hard on the Vodka. But the Stoli won out in the long run.

Boris Yeltsin was the only pro-democracy, pro-capitalism ruler that Russia ever had. People who share those values should mourn him.

Absolutely, lot of ignorance here on just who Yeltsin was.

Amen brother. If the present Russian leadership was more like Boris Yeltsin, we'd be getting cooperation on Iraq & Iran rather than opposition.

Yes, he had a drinking problem. But he had a lot of company living under a regime where vodka was cheaper than safe drinking water.

R.I.P., Boris. You are the true symbol of Russian-American friendship.

I hope he gets a state funeral befitting his stature and we send someone befitting his stature to honor his memory.

He was the real face for freedom in the former Soviet Union, not the lieberal's phony hero Gorby.

So did Churchill.
