McJihad at Virginia Tech

Are the Virginia Tech murders the latest evolution of a strain of violence embodied in radical Islamist terrorism? Post-9/11, terrorism inspired by al Qaeda has been devolving in a progression that can best be described as from the caliphate to Columbine. That is to say, from a pseudo-religious political movement to nihilist acts of destruction. Welcome to the McJihad.

Osama bin Laden and the other founders of al Qaeda are now more destructive as a global brand than they could ever hope to be as tactical terrorists. After al Qaeda’s success on 9/11, the media and the Internet presented them a global platform on which they have been shrewdly marketing their anti-Western bile and seductive perversion of Islam. The videos and writings of Bin Laden are devoured not only by entire communities of angry young men in

Nope. I would say the more likely culprit is radical Liberalism, although any more it is hard to tell the difference between the desires of radical Liberalism and radical islam. Both philosophies desire to control, to enslave, and want you to convert or to be silenced.

To me it’s fairly obvious that if 9/11 had never happened, or Islam never existed, that Cho would have still gone on a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech.

A bit disconcerting to see usually level-headed folks like NRO descending into “Gosh we’ve GOT to blame this on Islam somehow” nuttery.

And I fail to see how his multimedia manifesto is somehow a link to Jihad videos - both are simply a manifestation of the TECHNOLOGY avaliable now with prevalent and inexpensive video cameras and computer technology - Harris and Klebold may well have done something similar if the Columbine attack was today.

VT was a MySpace massacre in the style of sudden islamic jihad. All style, no substance.

The suggested course of action in this article is ludicrous and misses the point of and danger from Nihilism entirely.

Cho was a nutjob just looking for a sponsor.

Go crazy first, then adopt a dogma that fits you.

“...shrewdly marketing their anti-Western bile and seductive perversion of Islam...”

Seductive perversion? Not hardly. They have merely called forth its covenant.

Yeah. I think he pretty much absorbed hate, rage, and violence wherever he found it. Leftist sites for words, perhaps photos of jihadists for graphic imagery. He probably ate all of it up. But even without those things, he would have done something.

Someone called in to Sean Hannity today and said this creep lived and went to school in Saudi Arabia in a heavily Wahabbi controlled district from the age of two until he was twelve. Is there any truth to this, and would the media report it if true?

Locally we must squelch violent speech and bloodthirsty ideation when we see it and we can not let mistaken views on privacy stand in the way.

People should be wary of handing the government the power to "squelch violent speech and bloodthirsty ideation." You never know how they might interpret those terms. Webster's defines ideation as: the capacity for or the act of forming or entertaining ideas. Go back and read the quote again.

In late 2005, a judge wrote that he "presents an imminent danger."

A bit dishonest as it was as a danger to himself that this order was given.

And, once again, the West is under the threat of Islamic terrorism because our elite is colonizing our territory with Muslims. It's typical of the people at NR to help this process by collaborating with setting up a police state instead of confronting the powerful forces committing what amounts to cultural and physical genocide against the West. Saying no more Muslims might get you dis-invited from the Georgetown party scene or CBS. Choosing "diversity" over freedom NEVER will.

The attempt made here to connect Columbine and VTech to al Qaeda is dubious, to say the least, but if you're a hammer everything looks like a nail, I suppose.
