Reid says Bush 'in denial' over war (Resign NOW Reid!)

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blasted President Bush's perception of reality concerning the war in Iraq, saying he is in "a state of denial."

The Republican president said in a speech Friday in Michigan that U.S. troops are making headway against insurgent forces and Monday in Washington vowed he would "strongly reject" legislation containing a timetable for withdrawing American troops.

"The White House transcript says the president made those remarks in the state of Michigan," Reid said. "I believe he made them in the state of denial."

The Senate's top Democrat said there should be a regional summit to find a solution to the conflict, and that Iraq needs "tangible, measurable and achievable benchmarks," CNN reported.

Bush reiterated his stance that a withdrawal deadline would be a "mistake."

"An artificial timetable of withdrawal would say to an enemy, 'just wait them out,'" Bush said at a White House appearance with Gen. David Petraeus, commanding general in Iraq. "It would say to the Iraqis, 'don't do hard things necessary to achieve our objectives.'"

The House proposes withdrawing troops by the end of August 2008. The Senate set a target of next March. Republicans say they could sustain a veto.

Senator Reid has traitorously declared defeat in Operation Iraqi Freedom, thereby demoralizing our troops and providing moral support and encouragement to the enemies of America; Senator Reid can no longer serve this nation as Senate Majority Leader, he must be removed from that position – personally I would like him tried in a court of law as a traitor to his country during war time.

This Senator must not be allowed to continue in his present position in the United States Senate. His remarks condemned our nation, our military and our President. No amount of backtracking will undo the damage done.

Remove Senator Reid from his role as Majority Leader as he is unfit to serve.

Nothing will happen. The GOP Leadership are as gutless as ever. Aside from the President, have you heard a word from the ‘Pub leaders, Senate or House? No. Not a peep. They are content being out of the fight and out of the press. Cowards.

It’s time for the Justice Department to file charges against both Reid and Pelosi for their numerous violations that undermine the National Security.

I’ve got to see Reid waving a white flag before I believe him.

First, this will not happen. Second, I want the GOP to have the ability to disagree with a Democratic President if we are ever unlucky to have one without the possibility of getting fired. I can’t stand Reid and think he should voluntarily resign that would be the courageous thing to do...oh wait, he is far from courageous.

I agree...but to do so would violate the president’s “new tone” pledge. So it ain’t gonna happen.

Naaah, they're too busy suing the City of New York for not having enough black and Hispanic firefighters.

Sometimes I wonder if the tinfoil hat crowd that screams about black helicopters and the New World Order isn't too far off the mark ... it seems like the America we know and love is dying right before our eyes as the cancer of Politically Correct Cultural Marxism continues to metastasize.

He has declared that the terrorists have won and the US military has lost. These people cannot be trusted to defend the USA.

The Republicans don’t have the guts to fight back and the Dems know it. What Reid said is understandable - he’s a Dem but what truly pisses me off is that no-one will fight these people.

I understand your sediments, kind of like the Woody Allen quote ‘Just because your paranoid, doesn’t mean they are not out to get you’.

Homeschooling and the Church are the last bastion of defense against PC thought, that is why they are both squarely in the cross hairs of the left.

When are we going to get some leadership in the Republican Party? That seems to be what is most lacking.

Personally, I want Reid to keep reinforcing the concept Democrats simply can’t be trusted on national defense issues.
