I knew this story was the kiss of death........espcially after today's report we are at an 18 month low on gasoline stocks. Check out the date on this story.

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Drivers may find gasoline a little cheaper this summer compared to last, despite a 64-cent-a-gallon jump since January.

The Energy Department said Tuesday that the recent sharp rise in gasoline costs is likely to slow in the coming weeks with prices averaging $2.81 a gallon over the vacation driving season, about 3 cents lower than last spring and summer.

But the Energy Information Administration forecast is anything but assured.

Only a month ago, the agency said it believed the cost of regular-grade gasoline would peak in June, averaging $2.67 for the month, a price already eclipsed last week.

SA is still over-pumping and maxed out, and Iraq is still too unstable to develop.

Most pricing models don’t support big long investments in development or new sources, especially if a democratic administration just taxes the “windfall” in a few years. Enviros can’t decide which type of alternative energy is best, or worse, since they are devolving into a sort of religion anyway.

Get a hybrid and settle in for high prices for long term. If we continue to pay, the market will continue to charge.

I’m still wondering why for over 100 years we’ve been dependent on a nonrenewable resource produced by unstable govts that don’t like the US. Our autos are mass produced using this nonrenewable resource. With the technological advances that have and are being made, the world (and scientists) should have developed a solution for a cleaner, efficient and abundant low-cost renewable resource a long time ago. And that’s the derisive joke.

Yes, and cancer should be cured, and I should be able to fly like Tinkerbell.

But in the real world, no “efficient and abundant low-cost renewable resource” has been developed that can replace oil.

Yet. But they are working on it. In the meantime, you can ride a bicycle. Oh wait, bicycle tires are made from oil. Rats.

In fact 25% of all oil use is non-fuel in nature, like your shoe soles, the Scotch tape in your drawer, and all those little plastic tubs where you store your leftovers. Hundreds of products in your home are made using oil. Oil also lubricates the machines used to make all those products.

Oil is still in use because it’s the best, least expensive, most available product around for hundreds of daily uses.

As for those unstable governments, we’re working on that too.

That's because a petrodollar is worth less when it takes more of them to buy the same gallon of gas. Notice I didn't say 'worthless'.

The price of gas is not going up, the value of the petrodollar is coming down because there are so many of them.
