WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Duncan Hunter called Wednesday for Sen. Harry Reid to resign his post as Senate majority leader over remarks that the senator made last week that the war in Iraq "is lost" if the United States continues on its current policy.
Hunter, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee.
"In my opinion Sen. Reid, having made that statement, which can only have a demoralizing effect on our troops and an effect of encouragement of the adversary, I think it would be appropriate for Sen. Reid to resign his position as the leader of the United States Senate," he said.

Duncan Hunter: The best man for President.
“No ping list” ping. ;)
I’ll give the man a WELL DONE.
I can’t wait to hear Reid give his response.
Outstanding.
Reid needs to retire, his dementia is showing.

Amen!
It’s about time someone in the Republican party grew a pair!
That’s my guy!
Good lord.
FINALLY someone with a pair of nads and a backbone to boot.
Good show!
I’m listening for other Republicans to say the same thing but all I hear is crickets chirping.
Every single solitary member of the Senate and the House should be doing the same thing. But other than Hunter and maybe 1 or 2 others you couldn’t find a backbone if you put the entire bag of jellyfish all in one bowl.
If Hunter showed up outside of Capital Hill with a noose and a camera crew he would shoot up 25 pts.
Excellent call, Rep. Hunter!
hmmmm Could Reid be impeached??
At the very least he should resign!
Good for him. I read about the ups and down of other candidates. So far, no one seems to be noticing that while they fight for their guy, this one just keeps heading to the finish line.
Heck Yeah!
Just resign his post?! How about resigning all together?
CNN sure did a good job of reporting that by stuffing it on a backpage on some blog.
Good call Duncan, you have had my support since you announced you were running... If only the rest of the republicans would say the same.. I do believe the light stroke Harri had is effecting his brain.. Harri lost his mind a long time ago..
Yeah that’s the way.
Reid is about as un-American as you can get without being charged for treason during wartime. And I’m not so sure about that. He ought to be run up on charges and we’ll see what sticks.
If you haven't seen this yet: A campaign by active-duty troops asking Congress to drop plans for a withdrawal from Iraq. Lt. Jason Nichols, a 33-year-old naval projects officer who has been in Baghdad since mid-January, said the goal is to keep lawmakers focused on letting the military finish its mission in Iraq, and not prematurely declare failure

An outstanding gentleman with macro-self discipline, in view of the fact that his Marine son, Duncan Duane is readying for his third deployment in Iraq. Today Rep. Hunter, by sticking to his principles, showed the world what a fearless leader he would be! God protect his son, and GO, DUNCAN HUNTER1
Nevada voters — have you no shame?
Finally, someone with a couple of guts. No one ever calls democrats on what they do or say, and I’m tired of it.
I doubt I would make a good politician. Here’s how I might address the chamber. “Madam Chairperson, requesting the floor for 3 minutes to comment on the words spoken by the honorable Senator from Nevada. Let me start out by saying I like Harry Reid. To piss on. I reliquish the duration of my alloted time.”
That alone might just get my vote.
Does anyone know the surrounding circumstances to this pronouncement? Like where he said it? The Commie News Network makes it look like it was just a quip as he passed by.
Is there a more complete transcript of Duncan’s statement floating around?
I’ll be on the look out for it.
Waaaaaaaaaaa, he said a bad thing about me, waaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaaa and I need my soiled diapher chaanged waaaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaaaaa.
This little thread actually listed his quote.
He ought to resign from the Senate.
separated at birth???
Well said, Congressman Hunter.
HECK YEAH!
And that goes for the VP too!
It’s about time that our people started calling the Dems on stuff like this! Maybe it is the phone calls from folks like us telling them to stand up and never back down!
This is what I’m talking about. I want bold.
Where are the other candidates? There should be a chorus of calls from every Republican in Congress, from the White House, and if this were a righteous world, from the Democratic Party as well, for his immediate resignation.
What he has said is shameful, but there seems to be a severe shortage of shame around and about these days. What he as said is shocking for an elected leader of the US government, but I don’t hear any traces of shock anywhere.
If we don’t hound such a man from office, I don’t see how we can with a clear conscience ask another man to die in combat.
Here’s another gem:
“One thing that he reminded us was, this is a test of wills and he admonished us, reminded us that what we say to the world, to our adversaries and our allies, is listened to by the other side,” said Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.
“It must come as a shock to Al Qaeda leaders to have an aide come into their safe house and tell them that Senator Reid has declared that, in fact, they are winning and the war is lost,” Hunter said. “I think it’s highly irresponsible for the leader of the U.S. Senate to have said that and, just speaking for myself as the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, I think that the leader of the Senate should step down from that position.”
I’d prefer that we call for Reid to be hanged for sedition, but I’m not running for president.
What Hunter said is good.
There was no "if the United States continues on its current policy." That's just CNN whoring it's ethics out to help the enemies of this country, just as they edited out the truth of what was going on in Iraq before we went in to settle up Saddam's bill to humanity.
I’m with you there. I’ll volunteer to pull the lever.
