When running for any public office the first thing a candidate is advised to do is get internal polling data on pertinent issues. This type of data will never be seen on the national news.

One can bet when the polling data came in on the border issue, Brownback began backpedaling. The Democrats will not change their stance on this issue because of the far left fridge that finances them, but Brownback knows that he has hurt himself with the GOP as well as the Conservatives.
