Senate votes to require Iraq withdrawals
AP ^ | April 26, 2007 | ANNE FLAHERTY

WASHINGTON - A defiant Democratic-controlled Senate passed legislation Thursday that would require the start of troop withdrawals from Iraq by Oct. 1, propelling Congress toward a historic veto showdown with President Bush on the war.

The 51-46 vote was largely along party lines, and like House passage of the same bill a day earlier, fell far short of the two-thirds margin needed to overturn the president's threatened veto. Neverthe less, the legislation is the first binding challenge on the war that Democrats have managed to send to Bush since they reclaimed control of both houses of Congress in January.

"I’m furious,I’m sick about this."

Thankfully the Founding Fathers saw this one coming and made the President Commander in Chief with the power to veto.

I think we should call Reid “Pierre” — after Pierre Laval, who openly collaborated and allied himself with A. Hitler.

Plus Pierre Laval was a surrender monkey just like Reid is today.

You can yawn all you want, but what is going on is a game of chicken. Neither side can afford to lose, which is why there will be compromise where both sides can claim victory. Bush is not going to get a “clean” bill and he is not going to sign a bill with specific dates for withdrawal.

The Democrats are determined to destroy our military.

I hope that everyone who voted for or gloated over the Democrat victory in 2006 will now reconsider the consequences of the far left running the agenda in both houses of Congress.

Adding more names to my list of traitors.

However, I won’t need to add Sen. Lieberman. Smart man and a true patriot — he voted no.

This seems like a good time to bring up the guy who apparently is considering running against Hagel in the next primary. I don’t know that much about him, but the fact that he could knock Hagel out of the Senate and is a Republican is enough to
give me the warm fuzzies right now.

O.K. so what were saying here is desperate times call for desperate measures. Since many things need to happen to provide global peace and security in the U.S. by the time Congress says so the Executive Branch will need to escalate things a bit. The second Bush signs this abomination he should announce that Iran's capability to continue to wage war on the U.S. is going to cease. The attack will come at a time of our choosing.....

Are you serious, McCrazy wants to be our Comander in Chief and he does not make the effort to vote on something as important as this? Or are you just pulling my leg?

I just got done reading the proposed funding bill at the library of congress web site & the time line was proposed by the speaker of the house herself. You should see all of the pork that is in the bill as well..
