Alec Baldwin Calls Dora the Explorer

From the NY Post’s Page Six

Blaming Dora

< snip >DID Alec Baldwin dump CAA this week because a video posted on FunnyOrDie.com showed Dora the Explorer listening to his infamous phone rant against his daughter, Ireland? The Web site is the creation of Adam McCay, Chris Henchy and fellow CAA client Will Ferrell. "Baldwin asked CAA to take it off, and they did not," said one source. But oth ers say Baldwin is angry at CAA be cause it still reps ex- wife Kim Basinger. Baldwin's rep, Mat thew Hiltzik, told Page Six: "Three-year-olds everywhere are upset that Dora the Explorer and her friends are being dragged into this."

And from the Sydney Morning Herald:

He who has not sinned cast the first phone

Scandal is gossip made tedious by morality, said Oscar Wilde, and looking at the self-righteous orgy of criticism of the actor Baldwin sparked by a Nixon-like rant on his daughter's voicemail last week, one can agree. He called her a thoughtless, rude little pig. Oh, shocking! Has it occurred to anyone he may be right?

In the US, Baldwin is regarded as a dangerous extremist celebrity because he is to the left of Winston Churchill. So a blistering attack ensued in the media, generating a national debate on parenting, divorce, child abuse, the family court and more.

Some media outlets trotted out video (with spiders' webs on it) of Hillary and Bill Clinton smiling enthusiastically behind Baldwin and his then wife Kim Basinger. Would you vote for Hillary if she is friendly with a monster who calls his daughter names?

Kinda funny. Could have had more response from an angry Dora or Boots. Good effort.

I thought Dora's non-reaction was kinda funny. Like she was just dismissive of the clown and his tired old ravings.

More likely, the guy who made it just couldn't find any Dora-angry-on-the-phone footage to swipe.

Alec Baldwin promised us he would leave the country if Bush was elected. What is he waiting for?

Of course the Sydney Herald completely ignores the massive hypocracy inherent in the act of a pontificating, condescending, pacifist/utopian/leftist celeb browbeating a child - but such selective attention is familiar.

A couple of passing assumptions made by the SH really caught my eye due to their unfamiliarity. The first was the term “Nixon-like rant”, the origins of which I do not understand.

The second was the assertion that “in the U.S. Baldwin is regarded as a dangerous extremist celebrity because he is to the left of Winston Churchill”.

These people are insane...

as ususal.

I check out the SMH each day, just because I like reading an English-language paper from the other side of the world.

Their reporting is fairly balanced by (low) contemporary standards. Their opinion people are about 90% screeching moonbat leftists, so it's not much different from your average US paper.

They have some fun non-political news coverage and daily photo galleries.

One of their columnists, Miranda Devine, is a true conservative and an excellent writer. Some US paper should pick up her columns, when they don't have a purely Aussie subject.

That was Dora’s Abuela, and not her mother as the audio would suggest. Very sloppy. The concept was actually pretty good, but the execution sucked balls.
