It is going to be hell on the commute tomorrow and for a time afterward. It will take Caltrans ages to fix this mess. The still haven’t finished the eastern span of the Bay Bridge and it has been almost 18 years.

Agreed. I sometimes take that route into Oakland from the Tri-Valley Area and it’s the route I use to get to the airport. Must tell hubby not to get in a hurry tomorrow to get to work. Although he doesn’t travel that route, the backwash from traffic problems will affect his WB580 to SB680 commute. Fortunately he doesn’t have to be to work at a specific time.

That is probably due to local bay area governments pimping the feds for reconstruction funds for friends companies. They of course have to have the contracts distributed according to diversity and affirmative action standards. They drag it out as long as possible with retro fits that take decades or the next big earthquake,which ever comes first. Notice how soon Caltrans got the freeways up after up after the Northridge earthquake something like 6 to 12 mos.
